Borneo Beach Villas

We visited for a family trip, and while the location is beautiful and conveniently situated, the cleanliness didn’t meet our expectations. Unfortunately, we found a large cockroach and some leftover snacks under the bed. Additionally, the outdoor bathroom's shower head wasn’t functioning properly, as the water temperature couldn’t be adjusted to warm or cold.The management should address the air conditioning in the living room—you probably know what I mean! I didn’t want to leave an average review, especially because the staff who checked me in were very friendly. However, when we checked out, the service was slow. The staff didn’t take the initiative to check on the status of our deposit, leaving us waiting while housekeeping inspected the room. To make things worse, two guests who came after us received their deposit back before we did, which was frustrating. I think this can be avoid if the staff were trained better. :)

The Borneo Beach Villa is an unbeatable spot for a nice calm vacation. The beach is just beautiful although you fill find plastic stuff here and there. For younger (and older) children it’s perfect since the waterline is flat and you can walk easily 30-50 meters into the water. The waves are nice. there is no lifeguard on duty but you don't need one. Don’t expect a new hotel for this price. We had nice beach front villa at the southern end of the site. At low tide you could walk the stays directly into the water, at high tide you need to go to the beach 100-200m. The sunset is beautiful. Hotel location would be 10 of 5 stars! Make sure your Grab app works so you can order food since the restaurant is quite pricy for the offerings. Also getting away with a taxi will need some time and Grab. Go shopping and bring your own snacks and drinks upfront to enjoy the evenings. The breakfast is okay for the 3 days we stayed there but lacks some variety. They have a nice egg station for omelette and other things. You are in nature so you need to be prepared for mosquitoes, sandflies and a cockroach here and there. But this is nothing which is really dramatic and can happen at the best places. We had all required sprays and used them when necessary. Some outdoor mosquito smoke lamps can also be useful. Overall the family was very happy about our time there. The house is older but all items were functional. In case of support the technician was there in 15-30 minutes. For the low price it’s a good place with a wonderful beach but if you don’t want to compromise quality furnishings or need nightlife this is not a suitable spot.

Borneo Beach villas are located close to a beautiful beach with amazing sunsets and crystalline water. The two swimming pools are also very nice. The pool villa is large and very enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the environment is calm and relaxing. Notice that is far away from everything : it is a perfect place to relax at the beach and pool but not easy to reach other destinations. Food choice is limited but good. Definitely suggested if you want a calm gateway immersed in the nature.

AVOID! This is not a hotel nor a resort! Cockroaches everywhere! After multiple unresolved complaints we asked for early check out and a refund, but were rejected. Trip.com tried to intervene but was unsuccessful. We Got stuck in a cockroach ridden apartment for a whole week! Cockroaches got in our suitcases and ‘travelled’ with us home! Horrific experience! There are no sun beds nor umbrellas at the pool area! There is nowhere to relax or lounge by the pool. There are only 4 Coffee woden tables and tiny patio umbrellas provided, which are so uncomfortable! Some guests hid under palm trees in search for some shade! Despite the photos on trip.com advertising lounge/pool area equipped in sun beds and umbrellas, there are NONE! The beach is permanently closed, so there is no sun beds nor umbrella at the beach either. Extremely unprofessional management! It was a ‘holiday’ from hell! This place is a scam! It’s rather an apartment building where some flats are under some sort of ‘management’ … the place is a ghost spot! Absolutely dark and unpleasant during the night and evening hours, feels very unsafe!

Very nice place. I have been coming here since i was a kid. Although i have to say that the water pressure in the showers and the hotel seems to be a bit run downed already. May need a touch up. Overall great getaway as usual. And for the cafe, the abundance of flies are rather disturbing.

Great hotel with helpful staff. They are pretty strict with the check-in time, so you can wait in the hotel cafe. The place is a bit far from civilization, so if you’re craving some specific food, just use the app called Grab (gos for the rides as well). It’s far from the airport, so if you have have a morning flight, make sure you have your taxi booked in advance ( the hotel might help with that). I had to leave for the airport at 4:30 in the morning and my taxi didn’t show up, so I had to run around like a headless chicken asking the security for help. Don’t make my mistake, double check your morning taxi bookings. Other that that, great spacious room, gorgeous sunsets!! Calm beach. Tips: - adapter (worst case scenario reception has a few, but might already be takes, so take your own) - no wi-fi ( but for additional pay of 30MYR/ maybe per day, I’m not sure, as for August 2024, you can get a portable wi-fi from the reception)
