I have stayed at Tonsai Bay Bungalows for 2nd time as there is not much choice if you like to have 24hr electricity in Tonsai. I have spent 30 winters in Tonsai and stayed for most of the time in bungalows a fraction of the price but where the price matched the facilities. At Tonsai Bay, though, the rooms in their “hotel building” can cost between €20 to €100 a night depending on season or holidays like Chinese New Year. However, the rooms are very basic: no decoration, just a bed with nightstands, a place to hang your clothes, a fridge and a tv. No kettle, no coffee/tea, no hairdryer. The wifi works fine but you have to get wifi vouchers (one per device) which last only fora few days. There is no desk or chairin the room. The bathroom has no separate shower (no shower curtain either) and the entire room gets wet. The balcony was never cleaned. As I stayed for a month I only asked to get my room cleaned every 4-5 days: it was then only basically swept and a new towel laid out. The surfaces of the furniture were not dusted/cleaned, the toiletries in the bathroom not once refilled. My bed linen was changed once in the 4 weeks. Staff at the reception barely said Hallo when not addressed directly. The entire building (interior/exterior) has aged and has not been renovated for years. It’s sad that the demand is setting the price so high and there is no real competition in Tonsai.
