I cannot in good conscience recommend Adodhaya Palace Beach Resort. Despite its claims of being a 5-star property, this hotel fails to meet even basic hospitality standards. It’s the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had and that’s not an exaggeration.
Check-in and Room Issues:
- Upon arrival, staff ignored me for several minutes before providing assistance
- The Wi-Fi doesn't work in rooms - a problem that has persisted since Covid times based on other reviews online , yet they deceptively claimed it would be fixed "tomorrow" when I asked.
- The bed was unbelievably hard and cheap, totally unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a supposed 5-star
- When I complained, their solution was to pile blankets on top instead of providing a proper mattress topper
- The shower head was old and disgusting
- The bathtub stopper doesn't work, making it impossible to take a bath
- They didn't provide a proper duvet/comforter
- The sheets are cheap and raggedy, with stained undersheets
Housekeeping Disasters:
- Despite their policy stating rooms will be cleaned if keys are returned by 2 PM, my room was consistently left uncleaned until late evening
- I returned at 4:30 PM to an uncleaned room
- When they finally cleaned at 9:30 PM, they only made the bed without changing sheets
- They ignored requests to change towels
- Basic cleaning was neglected - trash and debris left on floors
- They performed a rushed 5-minute "cleaning" when confronted
- Getting fresh towels requires constant requests, with no guarantee of delivery, especially if you go out for dinner
Management and Communication:
- The hotel was unresponsive to both guests and the booking platform. If you ask them to do something they say yes and then ignore your requests. Everyday when passing reception there’s always a client complaining.
- Trip struggled to reach them for 48 hours after my complaints. I
- They provide substandard service with no apparent concern for guest satisfaction
The property has beautiful bones but is being run into the ground by poor management and indifferent service. There are numerous superior hotels nearby, either cheaper or similarly priced, offering genuinely good service. What's particularly frustrating is that with proper management and staff training, this could be a lovely hotel. Instead, it's a cautionary tale of false advertising and disappointing service. Save yourself the frustration and book elsewhere. The worst hotel experience ever run and I’m not kidding
