To be brutally honest, we were a bit disappointed. Being non-swedes, the idea of staying in a traditional Swedish house on an island seemed great, until we arrived. Close to, you can see the rotten wood and peeling paint on the buildings. We had booked into the annexe but weren’t aware of two things. Breakfast is placed in your room in the fridge. Yes, it was nice to eat outside in the grounds but the breakfast is very basic and no choices are offered. Inside, the annexe feels like a youth hostel, not a home and there’s no access to the main house common areas. The annexe interior common areas weren’t traditional or homey at all, furnished with office chairs and the ‘dining room’ clearly used for meeting and conferences. For this price point we expected more. There are lots of lovely outside areas, lawns, a deck and a jetty but the noise from the E4 travelled clearly across the water, somewhat destroying the otherwise idyllic location. Whilst we didn’t think it was terrible, it is hugely overpriced, even taking into account the location. We wouldn’t stay here again and if you decide to stay, at least you will be going in eyes open.
