Nika Island Resort & Spa, Maldives

My sister and I recently stayed a week at Nika island. What a magical, wonderful stay we had. This is the first time just the 2 of us have been together on holiday catching up on new memories and remembering our childhood in Kenya. My sister Sue organized everything and it couldn’t have been better. This was my first visit to the Maldives and my sister’s fifth. All the staff were exceptional. The head chefs would explain the meals and advise my sister in all the meals of her choices due to her seafood allergy. The Lotus Spa delivered world class treatments. I now work as an Ayurvedic therapist and loved the treatment rooms and therapists. Everyone was so professional,kind , welcoming and friendly. I am also PADI dive Instructor (not active) and hadn’t dived for 6 years. I have worked and dived in the Red Sea, Papua Nuigini, Thailand and the UK and somehow never experienced seeing Mantas or Whale Sharks. August isn’t the season for Diving with these but you can snorkel with Mantas and we did! Life recently has thrown some hard situations for my sister and myself and having somewhere to reconnect and be immersed in nature, the sea and a location that is respectful of both was important for us. Nika island provided just this. Especially the 2 instructors and teams on the dive boat and excursions. Shatthu and Fathu are professional and incredibly knowledgeable and a credit to PADI and Nika Island. We truly did feel like we belonged to a family here. I loved all my dives and can highly recommend anyone wishing to learn from beginner to more experienced diving. Fathu did my refresh/orientation dive and was fabulous. Shatthu is the Dive Centre manager and instructor and made a dream come true by organizing a private trip to Hanufaru Bay to see the Mantas. Shattu is relaxed and experienced and you feel at total ease with their diving trips. If I was to change anything, I would have done the Nitrox course. There are Manta snorkeling trips too close to Nika. My sister and I cannot thank Shattu enough for organizing an incredible trip and making us feel so welcome. We would also like to thank the General Manager Shameed Mohamed for making our private trip possible and for the magic that is created at Nika Island Resort and Spa. This is a very special place.

We spent 7 amazing nights on this island for our honeymoon two years ago. I only have good words because we had such a great time. The island is very quiet, you can dive and snorkel, there was a Spa, a restaurant and 2 bars. We loved the aperitivo, the food, the themed nights and the people who worked there were very nice. We booked the overwater bungalow and we couldn’t recommend it more, very private with a little glass floor and a solarium at the top. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to relax and have an unforgettable honeymoon.

Everything was great! Enjoyed the food, especially the pasta being cooked right in front of you. Drinks were great, enjoyed the pina coladas. And the staff was really cute, very helpful and kind. Had some of the best conversations with the team and i would definitely visit again!

The worst vacation I ever had was with the management team at the resort. While the staff were friendly, the overall experience was very disappointing. Firstly, the welcoming and reception process was terrible. When I arrived at my room, I found that even the most basic necessities were not provided. For instance, I had to buy my own toiletries, including a toothbrush, from the shop. Additionally, everything incurred extra charges, including water, which was surprising. It felt like they viewed all the guests as nothing more than sources of money. I would not recommend this resort to anyone, especially considering that the management team was from Italy.

Beautiful is not enough to describe the island! The nature - gardens and the reef are as you are in heaven! The stuff is so nice and polite! The best place to feel nature and rest in absolute beaty and silence /only birds and sea/. About the rooms - perfectly clean, the towels and the sheets as they are new! The restaurant - great food many fish and well prepared . All the staff was very nice and polite, special thanks to Ahmed Wajech - hardworking and always ready to help. the organization of the island is perfect, Anna and Luca are always there to help you and inform you about activities, but delicate and if you need them. They welcomed us and were at the island all the time if you need info about everything. At the reception desk - Ishara was very polite and helpful. About the bar - the best coctails /as they are made in the bar in Europe / made by Amid Rai and Sashi. THAT WAS A GREAT VACATION. If you need privacy - every room has a beach in front and no one else can pass. For the rooms inside the island there is a public beach with the best alive reef . Julia Sirakova

I stayed at Nika for the first time with my whole family between the end of the year and the beginning of the new one. We didn't always have perfect weather, but that was the only thing lacking in this splendid place. The island is delightful, as is all the staff that pampered us throughout the vacation. Rarely have I found service like that at Nika. We booked the beach villas, which, in my opinion, are the best option in this resort. The private beach is something unique. As many have written, the highlight of this place is the incredible variety of fish you can see simply by snorkeling outside your room. Excellent food, and New Year's Eve was very entertaining and well-organized. This is a place for those seeking the Maldives of old, with a heritage that has, unfortunately, been lost in most of this beautiful paradise due to the invasion of large international hotel chains.
