Senthil taught my kids kite flying at tea and helped them feed turtles. The hotel grounds were the home of missionaries in colonial times and have been turned into a beautiful luxury resort. It’s an idyllic place. On the lagoon you can do boating, zip lining and kayaking.

We had the best experience in Taj properties. Not only was the property located in the most beautiful location, but the activities offered within the property were spectacular. We had fun boating, feeding the fish, kayaking. The staff was kind. Rooms were big and service was spot on! What else can one ask for!

A special mention to Chef Subin Mechere, who took great care of us, ensuring every meal was a delightful experience. His warmth, attention to detail, and exceptional culinary skills made our stay even more memorable. He truly made sure we left with happy hearts and satisfied palates. Away from the city yet easily accessible, it was a good decision to choose taj kumarakom to unwind. Staff are extremely warm and helpful, going out of the way to accommodate our last minute requests. Room is clean and comfortable. Plus point being it's pet friendly . The restaurant also offers a good variety but we chose to eat local food and loved it. There was also a live dance performance in the evening while we were staying. The hotel's vintage charm with the traditional architecture with modern comforts alongside the serene backwaters was just the break i was looking for.

A short trip from Munnar brought us to Kumarakom. Having stayed in a few properties in the past, the expectations were set high! The stay was good, some great spots of enjoyment, some definitive spots for betterment and some sore episodes (nothing to do with Taj ethos). I felt the reception is small and non-noticeable and so was the usual warmth on arrival. That was soon forgotten when Gayatri brought on Priya to the fore. She did explain the shortcomings that come alongwith a govt owned property being leased by Taj. The restaurant was great and the high tea is quite refreshing. Our group of six adults, have great tastebuds sans anything that borders above LESS SPICEY… Great challenge for the team, till Subin Meccheri, hand crafted the best items of our stay - Ulli theeyal and Cabbage Thoran.. Out of the world and dot on “ Low spice”. Heaven on earth! Vin Pugal, a known face of our 2022-stay at Kovalam made our last day stay comfortable and allowed us to overstay for a couple more hours . Exit of one of our team leaving early on the last day to catch his flight to San Francisco had to literally witness and be a mute spectator to the Union-activism that compelled him to use the local cab to Airport, priced 50% more than the app-operators… a lesson learnt, though not a reflection of the nice stay in Taj. Having stayed in Taj resorts at Kovalam, Madikeri, Goa, Maldives, I feel Taj Kumarakom has many spots to betterment, especially house keeping, room service and the general upkeep.
