Cardamom County by Xandari

We stayed here as part of our Spicelands Tour. Such a great hotel near the centre of the town but you felt as though you were in the depths of the forest. The rooms were set on various levels ***** little paved pathways-if you are not very mobile you must ask for a ground floor room. We enjoyed walking around the different levels after our meals and seeing the monkeys in the trees. Our room was perfect-large walk-in shower, clean, comfortable bed and chairs outside of the room on the balcony which were nice to sit in and listen to the forest sounds. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and the food was very good as was the breakfast. Wine was available to buy for the evening meal. We didn’t use the pool but it looked very nice. We would recommend this hotel.

We were looking for a good dinner option at Thekkady after a hard day of trekking at Periyar National Park. Decided to have dinner at All Spice - Cardamom County by Xandari. They have really delicious food options at competitive rates that left us feeling very satisfied after. Jubitha served us with the most radiant smile that made our experience even better

I chose Cardamom County by Xandari because my previous stay, some years back with my husband had been so enjoyable & exemplary. So, it was without hesitation that I chose it for group of friends. A big plus is it’s ideally situated on the Main Street so you can walk to local shops whilst still having the peace of the beautiful gardens where you are staying. A negative is that the rooms are situated ***** relatively steep uneven paths. Not ideal for those unsteady on their feet. This time I found it had been taken over by Xandari & not for the better. The whole resort was a bit tired, although I could see that the grounds staff kept the gardens in immaculate condition. The rooms & bathrooms were dated. I moved to a ground level room from my very high level one -definitely to my detriment, it was dank and the hairdryer sparked. The room was not particularly clean. Especially, the drinking glasses. The food was still very good. The staff in the dining room, excellent, especially the senior staff member. Anjali in reception did all she could to make up for room problems.
