InterContinental Kunming recensioner

This hotel is located near the lake with seagulls coming in the winter. The hotel room is big and the buffet breakfast has many varieties. A beautiful hotel! The only drawback is that the front desk used to call about petty things like pillows, fruit plates and service after check out. This is rather annoying and disturbing while I was travelling and didn’t know if something unusual happened. A simple message by email may suffice.

The hotel fell short of expectations and does not meet their 5 star in many ways. 1. The hotel staff upon check in told me to pay a deposit which is almost another full day rate for my room. - Since this is not a normal practice, I questioned why is the deposit such a high amount? Almost 3000? Right after questioning, the deposit amount became an incredibly low amount of 70 yuan? The huge variance in the deposit amount which seems to be decided by the staff checking me in threw me off and made me wary of all my transactions with them from then on. 2. We booked 3 rooms. One of the room was incredibly far from the main entrance. By far I meant the walk took us 8-10mins of leisure walking. The hotel should invest in a buggy to bring their guest around and pick up from the block back to main lobby. 3. Deliveries - we ordered deliveries but there is no one to help you pick and send the order to your room. Unlike other hotels. You are expected to walk all the way out to pick it up. Mind you this is a really huge hotel the walk is at least 5 minutes from your room to the pick up area when we usually are able to get the concierge to pick up and send over the deliveries.

Great location near the lake with beautiful views from hotel room. Nice breakfast and absolutely clean room with soft mattress. I will definitely come back again.

I've stayed in dozens of "5-star" hotels throughout China (inc. one in Hangzhou that was horrifying!); Kunming's Intercontinental is a TRUE 5-star hotel. The service, amenities, extensive grounds, and rooms are all top tier. The location is great for the West Lake scenic spot (other than that it's quite far from the city hubbub... to be expected when the hotel grounds require a fold-out map!). The dinner & breakfast were excellent (although all the fanciest dinner options were seafood, if that matters to you). Pay the little bit extra, stay at this hotel, you won't regret it.

Great hotel in a silent environment close to Lake Kunming and the museum/park of ethnic minorities. The buffet breakfast and dinner is a must, great selection of various Western and Chinese cuisines for low prices.

I like the hotel, location, infrastructure, and the garden etc. The service overall is good, the reception can be improved though for a hotel at this level.

InterContinental hotel locates near Kunming's DianChi - 滇池 within walking distance. The hotel resort is relatively huge and it took me quite a while from my room to the lobby. So if you hate walking, this maybe something you need to consider. Furthermore, the room facilities are kind out of date especially the toilet which is a minus compared with other 6-star hotel. The restaurant especially the Chinese restaurant is not where you would get local Yunnan flavor, so avoid it if possible. In general, this is a resort hotel which is much better than any of the resort hotels I have visited in the West Coast of US. So I would still recommend it for anyone visiting Kunming, China.

facility wise a bit old but the room is clean and tidy, the service and food is good too.

The hotel is very nice. The garden is amazing. I would however say that the location is a bit isolated from shops and restaurants.

Hotel with amazing breakfast, personal was very kindly with us, in speciak Gavin who helped us in everything we needed. Of course i will come back if I am in Kunming.

In general, we was very happy with this staying. Especially their service team provided super excellent service.
