Yaxuan Hotel (Kunming South Railway Station Seventh Street Branch)

The hotel is very close to South railway station. Perfect for a quick stay and connexion between two trains. There is a night market in the neighbourhood which is nice for one night stay. The room is clean and comfortable and the lady from the reception is nice and speaks some English. I recommend!

The location was good, near the train station and close to really nice street food places. It was quite difficult to find, at least as a foreigner. When we did the Check in, the receptionist basically just took our passport and gave us the key without explaining or saying anything. The room was ok for what you are paying, although the mattress was quite uncomfortable. During late hours (23:00 until 1:00) we had people shouting and talking really loud on the corridor and nobody from the hotel took care of the situation.

Positive: Spacious room with plenty of light, the price is very cheap. Bathroom and cleanliness are adequate. It's in a lively area, full of young people and many places to eat at a good price. The cleaning staff is very friendly. Negative: The reception staff is not attentive and not prepared to handle a hotel. On the day we arrived, during check-in, they didn't explain anything to us and were laughing the whole time while looking at our passports. They made no effort to communicate with us. On the first night, a group of drunk guys was shouting and vomiting in the hallway next to our door for over an hour without the staff doing anything to stop it. Later, at 1 in the morning, another drunk guy started banging on our room door and shouting. No one did anything. It's an unsafe and dangerous place. For the past 3 nights, there have been construction works in another room nearby, working with a drill in the mornings, making a lot of noise and using toxic products that generated vapor, making it impossible to breathe in the hallway. The vapors entered the room, and we had to open the window and block the bottom of the door with towels. It gets very hot in the room in the mornings, and there is no air conditioning. It's far from everything and poorly connected, not recommended if you want to sightsee in Kunming.

We stayed for a night. The service was good and the room was clean. The location is good next to many shops and street food stalls at night. This hotel accepts foreigners.
