The Notary's House

After a long tiring journey from UK what a beautiful oasis in which to spend our first night in Sri Lanka. From the moment we stepped through the door we felt welcome and looked after. Our room was delightful, and the food first class. Breakfast overlooking the lake was magical. Our only complaint was that we didn’t spend longer at this hotel. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so lovely.

This was the perfect place to get over our long flight. Less than an hour from the airport, as soon as we pulled up to be greeted with smiles, ice cold towels and cool fresh juice the tensions of the journey began to disappear . Our room was huge, spotlessly clean and airy with a well appointed bathroom and excellent linens. There is a lovely well maintained pool with plenty of space and beds . Meals were served in a covered pavilion overlooking the beautiful grounds and adjoining lake . The food was excellent and a great introduction to Sri Lankan cuisine . The waiters explained every dish with pride . We took a stroll around the lake to the nearby village and temple but really we just enjoyed unwinding and settling in to holiday mode . The best thing of all however were the wonderful staff who were so smilingly attentive and kind . Highly recommended for the start or end of a trip.

The start of our Sri Lankan experience opened with a night at the Notary’s. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The food was delicious and so well presented with the staff explaining carefully the ingredients. The surroundings were idyllic and our meals were taken outside. The lake was active with wildlife. Our room was beautiful. Comfortable and large. A great place to stay where calm and relaxation is needed. Thoroughly recommend it.
