I was looking for some down time after trekking in Nepal and am so fortunate to have come across Zen in the search engine. Pictures don't always live up to reality, but this resort exceeded expectations. I was welcomed by two very smiley members of staff, MJ and Chris, with a drink and cooling towel, and also the extremely friendly owners Sarah and Tyson. Throughout my stay they were so helpful with information and advice about excursions, local transport and other bars and resturants and extremely approachable. The food at Zen was phenomenal (i barely ate anywhere else). As a vegetarian I had numerous options and the chefs were accommodating in making adjustments when needed. I looked forward every morning to a delicious plate of fresh fruit, home made granola and yoghurt, plus a different mixed fruit juice which were so refreshing..thank you Abdullah, Moses and Soli. Oh and the cocktails...yum! The bungalow had plenty of room, storage space, a fridge, fresh filtered water daily and housekeeping was impeccable. I adored (& really miss) the outdoor bathroom which included locally made shampoo, shower gel and soap. The pool is a perfect size with plenty of comfy beds for all the guests and gentle music suitable for the vibe. Watching the sunset on the rooftop bar with a cocktail topped off the end to my days. And the shala and spa had plenty of room to do daily yoga (Zen even provided the mats!) I was a bit unsure about not being beach side, but a couple of times I went to other beach side resorts for pool use and a drink, I was constantly approached by sellers on the beach who unfortunately don't take no for an answer. I did walk to the beach near Zen a couple of times to watch the sunrise, which was roughly 10 minutes away. I'd like to again thank Sarah, Tyson and all the staff for making my 12 day stay at Zen Boutique a lasting happy memory and I hope to return in the near future.
