Spice Island Hotel & Resort

Incredible location, rooms, amenities, activities and people. We were really impressed by every detail and I suspect we will be back :-)

We loved staying at Spice Island hotel and resort. We noticed how the staff was very friendly from the first moment. We also really enjoyed our room and the food. No complaints at all.

What a beautiful place to relax body and mind, always smiling staff, wonderful spacious rooms imbedded in a garden and a huge pool to swim when there is low tide ♥️

Hotel was being renovated & has lost much of the African ambiance shown in their photos, thatched roofs are gone. Restaurant not run well with key ingredients unavailable most days, small and large drinks cost the same too and no entertainment during our stay. Paje was nice, Nungwe & Kendwa better.

This hotel was just such a great find for a special trip with my son and we could not have been happier. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean and housekeeping were always reliable. They are all mainly in a peaceful garden setting and our room was actually furthest away from reception/pool yet was still only a 2 minute walk to everywhere and it was great to walk through the garden each morning and if you are lucky in the evening you might meet the local family of monkeys which we did twice. The food is very good, consistent and hygiene standards in the kitchen are high. The pool is actually larger than in many similar hotels with beds both there and on the small private beach area. There is also a private jetty with comfy seating and a bar serving a different menu which was great. Easy access to main beach and you can easily walk to Jambiani. You can still expect sales people on the beach but due to the location not that many and they are really no bother at all. Overall this is a super peaceful location and Paje is only a 6 minute drive if you want a livelier evening. Finally the staff were all welcoming, helpful and generally just lovely. They are all very relaxed and discreet adding to the overall super chilled vibe, but if you need anything at all, it just seems to happen without delay. A final note is this hotel is very good value indeed compared to many others nearby. We wanted for nothing and cannot recommend Spice Island enough. Come, chill, be happy.

If you want the real african accomodation experience, visit them. They were courteous and warm. Great time there. Not as many surrounding attractions as up North. I got to interact with the massai men at the shore. Make sure to experience the sunrise and sunset at least once. Magnificent.
