Michamvi Sunset Bay

My partner and I stayed at Michamvi Sunset Bay in January and it was a wonderful experience. It’s a relaxing and well serviced hotel, although it’s not got much to do near by. So if you are looking for an adventure type holiday, this is not your place. If you are looking to totally chill out and relax, and eat yummy food – this is your place! The bedrooms are nicely designed and spacious, and bathrooms are new and clean. You get fresh milk in your room for cups of coffee/tea whenever you want, which is a nice touch. Shirley the GM is an absolute delight and gives everyone personal service making sure every guest is happy. Congratulations Shirley on how you run this hotel! And she is well supported with friendly staff. The food is amazing, from breakfast, lunch to dinner - always different choices to try. You get a beautiful sunset every night which is such a highlight and nice to have pre dinner drinks watching it go down. It’s such a bonus to get the sunset on Zanzibar without having to go up to busy Nungwi.

Heaven on Earth! We just left after out second visit and this place is absolutely magical. It is very small, but it still feels like you have many options to choose from. From hanging out in the magical beach bar to lying by the beautiful pool or exploring the water on the paddle boards. Each night a new location is chosen for dinner and this really helps create variety and make each experience unique. There is the most magical sunset every night that we never get tired off. But what we love the most is the people. Huge thank you to Shirley for always making us safe and happy, and to the whole staff. We will definitely be back again!

Absolut fantastic small and very lokal hotel. The service is outstanding. Good food, top cleaning, and very nice and polite manager end hotelteam. Absolut relaxing and far from disturbing issues, so you have to accept transportation for speciel expierences.

Michamvi is beautiful and a great option for those spending time in Zanzibar. It's cut off and not a commercial part of the island. Sunset Bay is located on a beautiful stretch of the beach but we were left wanting for more with the experience. It's a small family run property but there are just too many rules that I would not expect while on holiday. No room service. Fixed dinner menu with no flexibility. Rigid timings. They would not even serve starters at the bar. You have to walk over to the restaurant. Shower did not work properly. AC did not work for our 4 day stay despite multiple follow ups. Very high currency conversion rates while signing off the final bill compared to rates we got in other parts of the island. Properties coming up on either side of this place. Location is great. Might be better options to look at.
