The Feathered Nest - Wildlife Retreat

I want to start by saying that I NEVER complain or leave bad reviews, that’s just not normally who I am… but… The feathered nest is now called Awaken retreats for anyone who didn’t know because it’s not made very obvious. The old owners had the wildlife and birds - provided lots of food and cooked meals - however, the new owners hardly provided anything except for two small packets of cereal, two small chip packets & some milk/juice. There were some cleanliness issues where the fridge, toilet, microwave and kettle weren’t cleaned at all and had grubby finger prints on all of them (toilet had yellow liquid on the bowl still). Also, for some reason all night, every 25 minutes the spa baths pumps would make a really strange loud noise and wake us up, so we had roughly an hours sleep each. The outside where the pool and BBQ area is was really poorly looked after (looks nothing like the photos), the table wasn’t wiped down & their was dirt/leaves everywhere. I honestly felt like nothing had been cleaned prior to our stay. My thoughts are that when this retreat got taken over by the new owners, it hasn’t been cared for as well, and it is not so much a nature retreat as a spiritual/religious retreat which is more so what it’s marketed as once you get there. I find this strange if you’re not religious and are coming here on the pretence that there’s lots of wildlife around and birds in the cage… which there really isn’t. Each to their own though, we were just very disappointed!
