La Palmeraie

Very nice small hotel in a very central, calm and beautiful area surrounded by beautiful houses and trees. Well decorated, staff is friendly and flexible.

This is a self service hotel with just 1 staff at od hours. Not possible to get any service during most of the day. No coffe, cocktails etc. We wanted to have drinks, coffe , rent bycicles. but there is very limited service here.

Felt like we were inconveniencing the owners… Their attitude was that they were doing us a massive favour, despite us paying €1850 for four nights. Aside from that a lovely place with a beautiful room and balcony, a good buffet breakfast and good dinner - but due to the attitude of the owners we would not return. Also - if in the family suite, watch your toes on the sink unit - the wood at the bottom sticks out so everyone had a bruised toe… It’s a five minute walk to the beach (but no sea view) and the beach is truly magnificent - large and sandy with some great beach restaurants serving mussels and frites. We liked Maman et son fils. You can hire a shaded cabana for 18 euros a day - you have to walk down the beach past the end of the Main Street to their little office with two deckchairs outside to book and it is possible to do so on the same day. Beware when doing the long walk to Pornichet that it is nowhere near as nice and restaurants at lunchtime are likely to be booked up. A lovely day trip is to Le Croisic about twenty minutes drive away. Beautiful harbour village with some great cafes for a galette.

From good experience in July 2021, we booked again a familyroom in La Palmeraie. The Hotel and the rooms are still nice, clean and the location is ideal. However: from entrance we noticed that many details (decoration, tableclothing, staff) have been altered as the hotel is now under new ownership. It is all clean and well looked after, but that extra touch is now not present anymore. Staff speaks no or poor English, Breakfast is -to say the least- below par, small things like a spare toiletpaper-roll or a bottle of water are left out of the service and the restaurant (which used to be stunning) is lacking atmosphere. A good change is that the (nice) rooftop bar drinks are now not anymore at 'St Tropez' prices, which seems to boost presence of the hotel guest at the end of the day. An excellent spot to prepare for your dinner. Although we most certainly will come back, we miss the 'extra' attention, kindness and fluent English of the former female owner and staff. Maybe it will need some time to grow ! all the elements to stay a hidden treasure within La Baule are still present..

The Marie Celeste of Hotels Bizarre experience; hotel was deserted and no staff there; it was locked-up with a message to ring a telephone number. Basically shambolic, with no pre-warning of what to expect. When we finally spoke to someone and got instructions on how to enter the building the room was decent but there was no in room refreshment and no service to call on - breakfast, no chance. DIY and don't expect to see anyone representing the hotel.

Très bon emplacement, chmabres agréables et spacieuses mais hôtel fantôme, aucune vie. Roof top à l'abandon, les extériieurs ne sont pas entretenues.
