Welch Motel

We are not picky people but have NEVER stayed in a worse motel. We were in Room 21. Cannot vouch for other rooms. Curtains on windows were barely attached & would not open. Behind curtains were MANY dead bugs. Carpet so dirty white socks turned black in 1/2 hr. The phone was so dirty I would never put up to my face. The lamp shade has decades of dirt on it and is in bad shape. Knobs missing on drawers/nightstand drawer not attached. Trash can had things growing in it?????? Heat did not work-they gave us a space heater for the night which is fire hazard. AC worked but is taped together. Website states they follow Covid guidelines for cleanliness. This could not be farther from the truth. Walls, light switches, plug in plates, door all dirty and sticky. Door barely latched, not very safe. TV was only good thing in room-worked & lots of channels to choose from. Called them to visit about state of the room and the fact that if some rooms are updated & this one clearly wasn't that the charge for the room should reflect that. She kept interrupting me, said people stay in the room all the time without complaining, which I certainly do not believe, & then she hung up on me. They charged us $172.50 for a room that was not worth a fraction of that. We would not go back if they paid us to stay.

My wife and I stayed here many times over many years as it was always clean, comfortable, welcoming, and appropriately priced. Sadly, it is none of those things now and we will never revisit. Many better options in LaX.
