Aunty Arenal Lodge

Worst place ive been the beds are hard springs there are spiders and ants everywhere in the room including on the headboards of the beds. So be prepard to clean room before using , found hair on the inside of the bed sheets YUCK 🤮 Half the plugins dont work. Its after midnight on May 25th and im writing this review because clearly a goods night sleep isnt what u are going to get here. The front desk young man super friendly but NO ENGLISH at all here. For the price i am paying for the villa its just not worth it. I was so mad at the condition i canceled the rest of my days here and left to then be charged $100.00 early cancelation. Wow never ever will i be back and this review will be shared with all my friends whom thank goodness where just there and made sure to avoid this place Lots of photos to share holes in wall filled with toliet paper, electric pan broken, could touch hair dryer without putting my hand thru cobwebs, spider webs between stove and counters all around grossed out after counting 40 spiders I just wanted out. Rooster still there . Dog barks thru the night cant sit on outside patio and eat lunch without having 3 cats and dog hover over u begging for food it was HORRIBLE!! Oh and dont forget to turn off all lights and air conditioning if going out otherwise they will enter your room without permission to turn these things off so villa was always extremely HOT 🔥

My wife and I stayed at the Aunty Arenal lodge for 3 nights. We arrived after midnight due to an accident blocking the road. Much to our relief they had waited up to check us in. This was very much appreciated after our long trip from the uk. You get a local Costa Rican breakfast in a nice outdoor area with humming birds hovering close by. Plenty of hot water. Few minute walk to some bars and restaurants which can get dark. Sum up, not luxurious but does what it says on the tin, in good location and friendly staff. Very happy with our stay.

530 to 630am rooster wakeup, or 7am no drapes wakeup , old spring beds .... Sorry for the bad review but we couldn't sleep both nights. 530am rooster that screams till 630am (they should warn you about), old spring soft mattress, no window drapes so daylight hits you at 630am,1 inch space under door for cockroaches to come in,, no WiFi in our room which was half way down the hallway .... The host was nice though

This is a lovely little hotel for family or singles, a bit off the beaten path so no traffic noises or worries. The front desk "aunty" is very helpful and can recommend local places to visit. The rest of the staff are friendly and helpful too, though it helps to know a little Spanish. Full breakfasts, nice rooms and surrounding natural area, pool.
