The hotel was amazing. The location and view of the Arenal Volcano was exquisite. The staff were extremely kind and gave us good recommendations of where to swim and eat. Breakfast was also ample and delicious. All for a very good price. I highly recommend this location.

Excellent, friendly hotelwith a prime view at the foot of the volcano surrounded by grass. One of the pools was under reonstrution so they put us in the better rooms at the bak whih are very comfortable and quiet. The grounds are planted with flowers and well lit. The bathroom provides soap and shampoo. Altogether an entirely pleasant experience.

Me and my brother stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and i will definitely recommend this hotel. It felt so nice and relaxing, i didn’t catch the gentleman name at the front desk but he was the most helpful and friendliest person and truly was amazing. I find the location of the hotel great, there’s walking distance food and activities close by and it’s also safe to walk. We book the bungalow deluxe room and it was so spacious and well kept i loved it. I will definitely come back to this hotel.

We had an excellent stay in Hotel Lavas Tacotal. Karen, on reception, was an excellent host from warm welcome up to check out. Karen helped us with reservations for other activities after half a day spent in the rainforest. We stayed in room 26 with a direct view of the volcano. Breakfast was superb quality, fresh and good variety. The extra mile was, when breakfast was ready at 6:45, what was an incredible gesture for all customers leaving early for activities starting 8am, which involves little travel. Highly recommended.

Don't look any further, this is THE place to stay in the Arenal volcano area. It has an amazing pool-side view of the volcano, everything is really clean, with beautiful landscaping throughout. Ask for the rooms at the bottom of the hill and you won't hear any traffic, just the local fauna. Furniture was very good, there are air conditioners in the rooms and the shower has great pressure and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was excellent, with buffet of fruits, cheeses and breads, plus made-to-order hot breakfast including eggs, pancakes and the local rice+beans of CR. Just a one day pass to hot springs at close-by locations was perfect, as we were happy to not pay a much higher room rate at hotels that had hot springs on-site.

The room was great and with all comforts, nice pool open until 10pm, breakfast ok, I found the person at the check in the first day not very Pura Vida, beautiful view on Arenal vulcan. Mixed feelings about this hotel. They don't have water points to fill in your bottle, the bar gives you ice cubes to fit in your water bottle...

This place, normally I belive, would merit a perfect score. When we arrived, there was a beyond their control water problem that was resolved within hours. I just wanted to have a shower before bed and they resolved it way before then. Like so many Costa Rican hotels, the garden was brilliant. I think only one was as good, but I think I'm not supposed to name drop in reviews so I won't. Breakfast came with the place, and it's a buffet, so get there at the beginning (perfect score, particularly the huevo rancheros; best I ever had). Second night we went an hour into breakfast and it was better than average, but the warmers under the buffet trays slowly degrade the food, so go early! Internet was almost non-existant in the rooms, but great in the lobby and restaurant. There was some kind of damage to the "antennas" (I think they meant router, but what do I know) and they were waiting for parts. 100% they would have got a perfect score had we had better luck. Jenny was the standout employee (they were all nice and helpful, and I really shouldn't leave out Karen, who checked us in, and upgraded us for a SUPER modest increase because our room didn't have a fridge for my medicine that needs it, and the cabins have fridges, the rooms do not. The rooms, if you don't need a fridge, have superior balconies, and are just as nice. The cabins also have a microwave, which the rooms do not), and was genuinely enjoying a chat when she had nothing pressing on her time. Pura Vida, highly recommend this place!

Spent 1 night here with my family of 5 - got the suite and it was plenty of space for us. Room was terrific, well maintained, clean, updated bathroom and shower, TV, air conditioning, floor-to-ceiling windows that were still somehow private. Steps from an open space that had unobstructed (stunning) views of Arenal Volcano. They had 2 pools but we didn't try them. Property was terrific, so was breakfast. One complaint: we were right next to the laundry room and it seemed that staff was rustling about at 430a and woke us up.
