We stayed at Hotel Donaire in La Pineda as an extended family group of 13, ranging in age from 3 to 79, and had a truly fantastic experience. The hotel catered brilliantly for all ages, and we left with nothing but praise for the whole team. We went half-board and were genuinely impressed with the food. All meals were buffet-style, with a wide and varied selection at every sitting – there was something for everyone. From meats and roasted vegetables to fresh salads, cheeses, pizzas, pasta, and fish dishes. Traditional Spanish options such as paella were served daily, which we really enjoyed. While the food was served at the correct temperature, there was also a microwave available for anyone who preferred their food extra hot. The desserts were delicious, and one small suggestion would be to offer tea or coffee alongside dessert, which should be a lovely way to round off the evening meal. Breakfast was generous, with pancakes, omelettes, churros, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, yoghurts, juices, and a lovely range of breads. A selection of teas and coffees was available. There is a kids’ club running throughout the day, and plenty of entertainment for adults around the pool area if you want to partake. Some of the evening entertainment for children was on quite late, which may not suit everyone, but there was certainly no shortage of things to do. You can also rent bikes directly from the hotel, which is a great way to explore the local area. The staff are fantastic — friendly, welcoming, and incredibly hard working across all areas, especially in the dining room and entertainment team. The location is perfect – right on the beach in La Pineda. While the promenade was undergoing some work during our stay, it didn’t affect our enjoyment. Access to the beach was still easy, and although we were a little concerned about potential noise from the works, it honestly wasn’t an issue at all. One very thoughtful touch: if you’ve checked out but have a later flight, the staff will allow you to use a designated room to shower and freshen up before you leave. This was really appreciated. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with particularly spacious balconies – great for storing luggage or sitting out. The balconies on the top floor (8th) can get quite windy, so just bear that in mind if you’re someone who likes to spend time out there. The air conditioning in some rooms was a little tricky to operate. Overall, this is a fabulous hotel that offers excellent value for money. We would highly recommend it to families or groups looking for a friendly, well-located place to stay with great food, welcoming staff, and the beach on your doorstep.
