My wife and I are just back from a 2-week stay, HB, at the Golden Donaire Beach hotel. Overall the staff were 5* and hotel and experience 4*. In terms of positives: The hotel is stylish and, in many ways, an unassuming offering; in presentation, service, food, and accommodation. Indeed, an initial impression is of a small hotel, but it is like a labyrinth, so be prepared for occasional detours until you get orientated, lol. It was fabulous that lovely cold water was 'freely' provided with evening meals, and you are able to gets refills (albeit not that cold!). There is also cold water (including cups) available during the day, in the pool area (beside the outdoor food and drinks counter). Other positives include: the hotel's sauna; beach location; our room (while definitely small, certainly for a 2-week stay!), had a surprisingly good amount of storage space, which was not immediately apparent. Staff were excellent, many smiling, personable, and ready to assist when needed. Indeed, as I have already communicated to the hotel, a special word of commendation is warranted for the excellent Vlad (at and in the dining room), with his tremendous attention to detail, charming personality and great memory (he knew our room number without looking). Additionally, 3 of the reception staff (Mariem, Fatima and Yarik) were SO helpful, when we had to contact TUI about the non-appearance of the transfer bus to the hotel on our departure! The food, overall, was generally tasty; and while not the biggest selection (with the usual European penchant for warm not hot servings! But 2 microwaves are provided for customer use, which I availed off regularly!); had reasonable variety for breakfast and dinner that we went for. The bus transfer from the airport is only about 30-35 minutes, and a pleasant enough drive. I also wish to thank the hotel for a birthday surprise they provided for me; most kind and appreciated Niggles and negatives included: Disruption to promenade outside the hotel (albeit this was well communicated beforehand by TUI); and the noise from the work and machinery will get louder in June and beyond! Our room was small, but with one of the biggest balconies we've ever had (just a pity it only got a small bit of very early morning sunshine ); tired furniture, fixtures, and bedding! The bed was rarely well dressed: sheet was frequently not tucked in, often crumpled; and the mainsheet was too small for the size of the bed! While the staff were lovely, cleaning was not a priority: we had to dust some places and spaces upon arrival; and noticed underneath the bed hadn't been cleaned from previous guests. The noise from an adjoining hotel is very, very LOUD at night and, for early nights, poses a headache! There are plenty of outside tables and chairs; and a reasonable amount of sunbeds for a moderate amount of guests (with the usual silly, selfish people marching, en masse at 9am, to claim beds...and then leaving to go for breakfast!
