TH la Thuile - Planibel Residence

Très bonne emplacement, la chambre fonctionnelle et rénové, mais petit bémol niveau isolation sonore, on entend tout. Le complexe est très grande, il peut être mieux indiqué m, on se perd très vite.

Жили неделю. Апартаменты очень понравились. До подъемника 100м. Две комнаты, два санузла, небольшая кухня. Все что нужно есть. Большой балкон. Сам курорт очень понравился, катание отличное, рядом Курмайор и Аоста. В общем все супер. Парковка подземная 12 евро в сутки.

A review for families who are nervous going in their first ski holiday. I will try and keep it concise-ish! Rooms - we booked a one bedroom apartment and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the recently modernised rooms. Storage was fantastic and space in the balcony to store your skis which omitted the stress of the communal boot room in the hotel. Kitchen area well equipped for quick stove/microwave based meals (no oven) . When you arrive there is some water in the room but try to get to the supermarket before 6.30 pm as otherwise you will have no milk! Room temperature is toasty and bath/shower facilities are great! - lots of towels provided and shower gel. There is space for suitcases to be stowed away and there is a maiden to dry clothes. We had a great view of nursery slopes . We booked into the hotel pool one evening which we had to pay a supplement for 39e in total- it was like the hunger games- we never went back as it was absolutely wild with kids divebombing/drowning each other and generally pushing my stress levels to the limit! Transfer- we booked a package with crystal ski - transfer was seamless and with minimal stops Ski hire/ ski school - day one is pretty stressful the ski hire place is underneath the cable car entrance and is small and busy. If you can get your gear the night before then you should. We arrived too late so had to collect in the morning and it was the worst part of the holiday. Trying to get boots and skis for a family of 4 with two young boys was not easy and made us late for the start of our pre booked ski school. Once this all got going the lessons were great - but you do need to be clear on your ski ability as there are beginners and beginners. If you can ski a bit push to go in level 1 otherwise progress will be slow for first few days. Crystal ski staff were at bottom of slope to look after children to ensure you could get to your lesson on time. Lessons were great we were with the Italian ski school. The slopes are fantastic for beginners as most of the slopes are up the mountain so everyone could feel that they were up in the ski rather than stuck at the bottom of the mountain. Skiing into France provided some lovely blue routes and the apres was largely no frills but the price reflected this which meant you could eat and drink in the slopes without fully breaking the bank. The distance to the slopes was a real bonus and a short walk from apartments and you were at the chair lifts. In the afternoon we were able to do some family skiing and the day before we left we had a full day to ourselves. Be warned that there is a blue slope near the bottom (23) which has its own chair lifts. It is not a gentle ski and crosses over a black at one point and I think I felt my soul leave my body … it was not fun so be careful! Eating: food was reasonably priced on and off the piste. Just a fabulous hotel for skiing. Yes it’s big but it’s right on the slopes and run very professionally to accommodate and feed lots of people. We went in February half term and was our first visit. Half board. The skiing was amazing and the hotel catered exceptionally for our family and wider group of friends. For how many people of various nationalities they cater for the range and quality of food is amazing. Good double rooms with everything you need. Good ski hire and storage. A small selection of bars within the complex as well as the hotel bar. I would highly recommend this hotel for the location, staff and simplicity of being able to access ski equipment, lessons and storage.

The room was lovely, but very cold, so we had to jam a towel under the balcony door to keep the warmth in. The maintenance team did pop by when we reported it, but weren't able to crank the heat any higher. The food was lovely, but the dining room was way too big, so felt chaotic, and the tables were stacked on top of each other so the table next to us kept having to move their chair to let us in and out. Lockers are available with a deposit, but aren't heated, so might wanna bring something to dry your boot liners overnight. Great location to the lifts/gondola. So cannot fault the location.

This is not a 4 star hotel or residence by any standards. It just is big. It is tired in design with limited offerings. Restaurants and food isn’t exciting which is quite something for Italy. Swimming pool is basic and cold for an Alpine swimming. The residences are very basic. The lifts are old and noisy. We could barely sleep as our room backed into a lift shaft. Hotel staff didn’t care. The La Thuile ski areas are great with many nice wide runs. The hotel and residences are well placed for ski in / ski out.
