Plus side: quiet location w/ no commercial stuff nearby. West-facing rooms get sunset light. Also, large trash cans in rooms. False advertising -- there are no sofas in any rooms, per the management, contrary to the company's website. In fact, rooms have just one straight chair. Not a "full kitchen" at all. There are absolutely no utensils or plates or pots -- not even a coffemaker. Ceiling lights - no lamps - and un-carpeted floors make for a stark experience. As a "residential" hotel, it's a phony. Try Candlewood Suites for a few more dollars and way more value.

A longer than usual first leg of a return home to San Antonio from Florida trip landed us in Lafayette for an overnight rest. A suprisingly good low rate on a same day reservation followed by a late arrival had us concerned but Shane multi tasked us to a happy spot on the 4th floor moments after check in. The room was large, clean, equipped with a full sized refrigerator/ freezer, microwave, a 2 burner flat top ( for heating only) two comfortable queen beds (always nice to be greeted by a light, refreshing fragrance on that first face-down flop) and a quietly efficient and powerful ac unit. More than adequate bathroom room, HOT water and plenty of it, enough space for an extended stays worth of clothes, etc. and a faux wood floor that lent itself to easy cleanup. The flat screen had about 40 channels though we didn't find local news. The alarm clock worked like a charm. At least, the one in the adjoining room did, going off for multiple minutes at about 3:30 AM while a fully dressed patron scurried away from the scene bemoaning her inability to shut off her "fire alarm." NO joke. Fortunately we were lulled back to sleep afterwards by the vindictive argument and sounds of classic angry make-up sex that followed almost immediately and ended swiftly. The analytical ability and endurance of potential patrons are not metrics of hotel success so these events cannot be counted as marks against Woodspring Suites. What can be counted as positives: staff. If Shane wasn't hands down THE most attentive customer service rep we experienced on the entire 3 week, 4 state vacay/ job hunt, he was in a dead heat for the top spot. Sadly, no clone or anyone for that matter was available from 11p till the next morning, possibly just a temporary personnel shortage. The parking lot was more than adequate, fairly easily accessed, and well lit. A large and clean laundry room and a fitness center were available on the 1st floor. As already mentioned, the rooms were exactly what you want. A bit more soundproofing and you'd earn that 4th star, Woodspring.
