Sun Street Aparthotel

We were trapped in the room for about 20 minutes on our second night at the apartment. I wanted to send a WhatsApp message to my son. As the WiFi doesn’t work in the flat, I thought I might get better reception in the hall. But the front door wouldn’t open. The door handle was fine, but the latch handle wasn’t working. I couldn’t unlock the door. We were alarmed. I found a spot in the bedroom where there was phone reception, and I phoned the manager. Beau, who was on duty, said he would be there in 15 minutes to try and unlock the door from the outside and get us out. I was starting to feel very nervous and claustrophobic. The windows are locked too. So if there had been an emergency we would have been totally trapped. Meanwhile, my husband tried to pick the lock with a paper clip. It took him a while, but he managed to open the door about 5 minutes before Beau arrived. The lock now seemed to be working fine. I went out into the hall with the key to check that my husband could open the door from the inside. He could. Whatever had been blocking the latch handle was unblocked. But we decided to sleep with the door open just in case. Obviously not ideal. Beau was very nice when he arrived and said he would see about compensation.(and would send a locksmith to change the lock so that the same thing wouldn’t t happen to other clients) But the next day, after we’d checked out, i sent a message asking about compensation. I got a phone call from Keith. He told me that the locksmith had said the lock was working fine and that we must have tampered with it. I told him we’d tampered with it AFTER it got jammed. Keith then said he’d seen footage of me in the hall before Beau arrived, seemingly “tampering” with the lock. And he asked me for an explanation! I felt I was being accused of lying or worse, malicious intent. In the end, Keith apologized for the “inconvenience” of being trapped in a room, and then having to sleep with the door open in case it locked us in again. He offered no compensation for what was an awful and potentially dangerous, situation.

Brilliant place to stay, in the middle of Lancaster but on a quiet square. The apartment is well equipped with the comfiest bed ever Spotlessly clean. Easy access with great communication. Have stayed there several times and will definitely be back !

One bed apartment with the most comfortable double bed, high end kitchenette, lovely shower room. In a quiet location and within walking distance to Lancaster city centre where there are many bars and places to eat. I had a problem with the key box and Paul was in attendance immediately to sort the problem for me.

Really friendly place to stay! Easy check in with clear instructions. Really nice large, spotlessly clean room with complimentary tea coffee and toiletries. We had an excellent stay, it couldn't have been more central to all the great shops, pubs and places to eat and an easy walk from train station. We couldn't have asked for more and had a great night's sleep! Lancaster itself is a gem! Super friendly, clean and well kept, lots of historical interest, beautiful canalside walks and we saw some top class live music for free in two of the excellent pubs. Well worth a visit! We will definitely be visiting more!

Great location Really nice apartment in the Centre great location but I do think it was too expensive for what it is

The studio was perfect for our needs. Comfortable bed, good shower and plenty of space in the bedroom/lounge, kitchenette and bathroom areas. Near the train station and central for amenities and attractions.
