Halfway House Hotel

I was visiting from Australia and looking for a nice venue to take my sisters for lunch. This venue has stunning views and the staff are very helpful but the food was terrible. The menu is seriously outdated and needs a revamp. We had the cheesy garlic bread and the potato for entrees which were ok. I ordered the breaded scampi which was actually prawns. They came with garlic potatoes which were swimming in an inch of butter but had no flavour. The vegetables were horrible had been cooked until they were mush. My sister had the plaice which she enjoyed but overall a very disappointing meal. I wouldn’t recommend it at all

We keep coming back here, when we visit the Antrim Coast. Really lovely food, great value, and very nice staff, would highly recommend.

Brought my sister and her adult son, visiting from Wales, here today for Sunday lunch. Have been before and it was fairly good. Staff are lovely, attentive, ambience good, clean, nice toilets and a view to die for, as for the food, not good. We all went for Sunday roast, 3 roast chicken and 1 roast beef. I knew right away that the chicken was over cooked, looked deep fried but thought, surely not. I asked for more gravy explaining that the chicken was rather dry and overcooked. Was told that it’s like that as it’s cooked first and then deep fried, not a good answer and no offer to exchange or anything. Another staff member, manager I think asked us was everything ok, I told him chicken was overcooked. He said that the type of chicken, portions mind you, meant it was crispy. I told him I don’t mind when the skin is crispy, but the flesh shouldn’t be. The leg part was so hard you could hardly eat it. The stuffing was nice texture but tasteless. Please Halfway House, check out other places in the locality to see how it’s done. Not least Matties Meetinghouse at Carncastle or Glenarm Castle tearooms. The food off the all day menu looked ok for pub grub but not the place if you want a good Sunday roast. And incidentally, we were charged, and paid the full price for everything.

We called on our way back from Dublin with no reservation. We were warmly welcomed! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent! Even though on a Sunday the place was so busy we felt very well looked after. We were bowled over with the entire experience. Clearly a well run business! Looking forward to going back soon.

Halfway House and fully pleased... fittingly on my visit out to the Coast...the hotel was well positioned also to city of Belfast sea and airports... in itself a lovely setting perfectly situated roadside seaside on that coastal scenery route... mountain backdrop, some nice watercolours i spotted with a glimpse over to Scottish shores unique...a stop off place with character... was pleased with my accommodation allocated, food grub available and afforded a pleasant overall stay thanks to the efforts of the hotelier and staff... thanking you kindly...I would return to the hotel upon a homeland coastal trip (Ritchey, world traveller extensive diverse..,

Food was amazing, staff are extremely friendly, we were staying at a different hotel and we were offered a lift back from the staff, definitely recommend for a lovely meal, thank you for your hospitality, we will be coming back again and will be telling our friends and family to visit
