Playitas Hotel - Sports Resort

First of all: we have never been on holiday in the same place twice, not even thinking of the same hotel! But here at Playitas it is different, we are total fans of the whole concept. The facility is great, the food is top notch and the best thing are the coaches who work here. We would particularly like to highlight Stephane Bacchellerie (former professional triathlete) because he makes a sustainable difference with his encyclopedic knowledge and his trained eye for the right posture. Even professional athletes we have met confirm the high quality of his classes. He is one of the main reasons why we have booked for the third time and are really looking forward to our training camp with sun, good food and nice active people.

Had a fabulous time. Great hotel, the room was spacious, had a fridge, kettle, sink and microwave. Excellent facilities- so manynsports and classes to try (all ages and abilities). Spotlessly clean everywhere. Friendly and helpful staff, always polite and happy to help. Great food - huge choice, lovely and fresh and something for everyone. Perfect, thank you. Hope to see you again before too long.

This was already the second time for me at Playitas hotel (first time a few years ago), so I knew already what to expect: great breakfast and dinner options, so even for 2 weeks stay is was not getting too repetitive. Many sports events, activities and facilities to choose from (some of them against a small charge, others free), and everything is very well organized. The whole resort seems to work like a well oiled clockwork. I had the same room as the first time I was there (a Junior suite in block 4), which was very spacious, had a big balcony and with great views of the resort and the ocean. The (public) beach is just in front of the resort and allows you to cool off in the sea. Most of the guests seem to prefer the pool to the beach, but the water temperature of the pool was much too hot for me and not refreshing enough, so I always went to the beach for sun bathing and swimming; it was largely empty apart from a few locals; the only disadvantage was the sand blowing around when it was windy; and the (dark) sand was usually very hot, but I knew this and put on my water shoes when going into the water; this also helped with the stones that are quite frequent on the beach and in the shallow water. Only a couple of minor points: The shower in the bathroom is of the open walk-in/drive-in type without any separation on the floor, so water will tend to run into the bathroom, especially when using the overhead shower. Better use the hand-shower and point it inside to minimize the effect, and/or put a towel on the floor to prevent the water from running further into the bathroom. My shower sink also started to smell a bit after the first week, but this was fixed the same day I reported it. Furthermore, being a light sleeper, I had some problems sleeping on the first night with a low frequency motor hum coming on every 15 minutes for a couple of minutes from a kind of service room next to my room (probably a water pump or something to do with the air conditioning). Ear plugs did not help much with those low frequencies, but I solved this by simply putting on the air conditioning fan each night (without cooling) which made a very similar but constant noise so that I did not notice the other motor switching on and off anymore.

Hotel was dated definitely not a 4* ,toilet was wobbly and broken , the hotel had an area of super strong draft blowing ,month of July was super windy also so if you visit bring cardigan/ jacket ( the spa facility only one staff working so never availability on our stay. The food at the hotel was actually yummy but very similar each day ( potatoes, chicken, pizza) ect ( snack bars served hot food during the day which is a good option! , coffee machine at the snack bar never worked properly coffee was like water even when staff changed the milk / beans up - so bring your own coffee sachets lol, the positives are the bar staff are absolutely amazing at what they do and super friendly, the cleaners also amazing and friendly, and the waiters at the restaurant amazing and friendly. However the negatives.. hotel dated old and lots of things broken not working properly, and reception staff need to be more friendly and helpful. 20min walk on the beach are resturants/ shops/ shopping centre , pharmacy ( taxi about €10) ) each way if you dont fancy the walk. Definitely recommend visiting the oasis wildlife park 10/10 recommendation super fun day €18 by taxi each way from hotel, and morro jable beautiful place lots of restaurants/ shops €30 each way by taxi definitely worth a visit. Also bring own shampoo/ body wash / conditioners hotel provided only little sachets but not enough for one wash - two people. Hotel has two shops one for clothes/ one for food / drinks souvenirs. Hotel has a machine for cigarettes. I hope my review helps future travelers.

It was a nice and spacious location right at the ocean. I enjoyed the variety of classes and option for different workouts. Especially the olympic lifting and metcon/ x-fitness classes with Stephane. He is a great coach and gave me some really helpful tips on my olympic lifts. Rooms and surroundings at the hotel were always super clean. The breakfast selection was diverse and also very good.

Having been to this resort 3years in a row now all in November. With a large group of varying disabilities. The resort it’s self is very wheelchair accessible I’ve been able to get to all of the classes hand have been welcomed but all the instructors. Especially Stephane, Elka and jonna who were more than happy to help adapt and explain the movements. And made me feel very accepted into the group classes. Will definitely be back next year.
