An Afternoon Tea gift for my wife’s birthday!!! And what a choice. This is a lovely place with great character. The staff were welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was of superb quality and well presented in a lovely dining room with views over the garden. Highly recommended for a traditional afternoon tea in lovely surroundings. We will be back the next time we are in the area

Went for a birthday dinner was given the alacarte menu not offered house menu although available food Wes acceptable atmosphere strange very old fashioned can’t recommend

It is very hard to fault anything at Lastingham Grange; an understated but really top property with a warm, relaxed, family home, atmosphere. In other words a perfect, and friendly, country house hotel. The location, on the edge of an attractive village and, literally, a few steps from the North Yorkshire Moors is ideal. There are good walks direct from the front door. The food is excellent; classic home cooking complemented by an interesting wine list. The choice at breakfast is extensive. There's a lovely garden, when the weather permits, and a comfortable lounge for afternoon tea, pre dinner drinks, reading etc. At first glance the rooms might not look super modern but they are very comfortable and well equipped. A very relaxing oasis I was sad to leave.

What a beautiful place! An unexpected treat on our walk with a group friends. Plenty of space for the kids to play in huge gardens. The scones were genuinely the best I’ve ever tasted. Lovely staff too. Well worth seeking out if you’re in the area!

Booked here for my wife’s birthday never having been before. Our son joined us and having had the voice of have the afternoon tea outside or in we chose a lovely pair of sofas in the lounge area where several others were seated as well. The lively pit of real Yorkshire tea arrived followed by the food. Sandwiches, cakes, sausage rolls and warm scones with jam and clotted cream. All the sand were brown bread which was not a favourite of my wife but it was no trouble to the staff to bring out a replacement choice on white. The food was very good, fresh and plentiful ( we took a doggie bag home ). The service from the Gentleman (I assume manager/proprietor) and lady on duty was exemplary. Despite the 90 minute drive, we will return. Thanks.

We came yesterday for an afternoon tea and what a wonderful experience. The staff were so welcoming and the gardens are just beautiful. A lovely hidden gem of a place. Definitely recommend for a summer outdoor afternoon tea. Will come again.

We traveled 1.5 hours for Afternoon tea which was a gift , we were really looking forward to it after reading the reviews . I must say it’s the worst Afternoon tea we have ever had . I could hear people taking in the restaurant when I went to use the ladies room however we were sat in an old fashioned room ( like an old folks home ) with the food on a nest of tables !! It was a complete waste of money. A really poor experience.

Staff are friendly, food was superb, bed was confortable and the room was very clean. Lastingham is a beautiful village and the hotel gardens are full of the scnet of wisteria. I can't think of anything even slightly wrong- we'll certainly be back.
