Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lavonia

Enjoyed my recent stay at this hotel located just off I-85 in Lavonia, Georgia. I was part of a the Trailblaze Challenge group staying at the hotel., Very friendly and hospitable staff at the desk and the hard working breakfast attendant all had big smiles and were very friendly. Special kudos to Chan who was working the desk, management should pass on my appreciation to her. Guest room 225 was spotless clean. A large bathroom and large vanity. Amenities are large size mounted on wall by sink and in shower surround. One negative for me was the tub shower and it was slippery. Happy there was a grab bar. I asked the night audit person for a room refresh as we departed very early and was happy to have it completed by my return in the evening. He told me they do housekeeping every other day but would do his best to insure a room refresh. Mission accomplished! Some of the other hotel brands can learn from the Holiday Inn Express breakfast. I love the pancake machine and the cinnamon buns are so good. Excellent buffet. Coffee is available all day. The breakfast attendant was very friendly and hard working insuring the buffet was stocked and well maintained. A very nice stay. I do recommend.

On the surface the room appeared to be neat and clean. But, upon closer inspection the carpet had stains and the bathroom wall had stains. I had to request a new shower curtain liner due to the one in place having stains and moldy areas. The elevator floor needed to be mopped as well as wiping down the walls. It appears as if the housekeeping staff just do a hit & miss cleaning job. I’m sure there is not enough staff to do an adequate job. The location of the hotel met our needs. You are in walking distance of two restaurants.

We were traveling to Atlanta when we had a vehicle accident. We had to detour our trip and stay at this hotel. We checked in at midnight and we were greeted with such kindness. The hotel only had one room available which was a suite but they gave us standard rate which was so helpful. We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed the breakfast each morning. Rick, the owner is very kind. There is a Longhorn 5 minutes away and a Chick-Fil-A right across the way. This is a good hotel for this area.

Overall, this is a good hotel, room was clean and comfortable, staff was nice. Coffee was good. My only gripe was with the breakfast; it was the skimpiest breakfast I've ever had at any HIE. One egg choice (usually egg white omelet), one meat choice (usually turkey sausage). No biscuits, gravy or potatoes. No milk in cartons, only a pitcher. No yogurt. We ended up having to go to a nearby fast food restaurant for breakfast. I've stayed at several other HIE hotels after my Lavonia stay and they ALL had much better breakfasts than this one!!!!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Lavonia on September 30, 2022. It was just an overnight stay on our way to Disney World. Normally we stick to Interstate 95, but Hurricane Ian forced us to take a more easterly course. We booked through the IHG Application. Hotel was a fine choice for our needs. Staff were friendly, rooms were very clean, and the breakfast was pretty good. We would stay here again if we ever come this way again.

The room rate was too expensive for not being able to control the ac. The room was not cool even though temp reflected 65. Did not sleep well at all. Contacted front desk. They had a monolog to follow and only apologized for the temp and could not do anything further. Was also informed AC controls motion activated. In order for it to stay on you had to get up every 15 or so minutes to make it come on. Will never stay in another Holiday Inn again. Their thermostats do not keep the rooms a comfortable temperature. Had been staying at other hotel chains throughout the week and did not have this issue elsewhere. General Manager (Alyssa Romano) claims room was at 67 degrees for the night we were there and claimed the motion sensors are “turned off” at 5 pm. What her system reflected and the how the temperature in the room felt were very different. The room was very warm and uncomfortable. If you want to sleep in a warm room during the summer this hotel is most definitely for you. If you want to be cool and comfortable, I suggest you drive a little further up the road and stay elsewhere.

I had made a reservation months in advance by telephone. Apparently they got most of my contact info wrong although I was getting updates via email. When I arrived they had CANCELED my reservation and offered nothing to compensate. Claimed my credit card was not working yet they are valid. They were contacting me via email about my upcoming reservation and said nothing about it. Really horrible experience and disappointed IHG treated me like nothing at all, not even worth a response.

The rooms are nice and staff friendly, but the Air Condtioners have a senser motion on them and turn off if movement isn't detected, the price is also outrageous, if I am going to pay $175.00 for a room, I want the Air to be on when I get back to room, not be 78 degres and have to wait on it to cool down, at that price I believe they can handle the Power Bill. It's August in Georgia, really? Take the sensers out and let my room be cool when I come back to it!!!!!!!!!
