An exceptional hotel in Lech - the reviews on Tripadvisor are spot on. The first thing that catches the eye is how absolutely clean and in excellent condition everything is, perhaps in part due to recent work and renovations but primarily because the team seems to take such good care of the facility. The brand new sitting room/bar is lovely and successfully blends the traditional chalet look with a more updated vibe. The spa also is completely new, with an attractive "vitality" pool (i.e., a pool with some jacuzzi jets and lights that change color), a sauna room with three private sauna suites and four relaxation alcoves. The primary dining room is white table cloth and attractive, with a small buffet area. Finally, the small lobby area is bright and attractive, with a large touch screen on which useful information can be obtained (such as the local ski map). ROOM: We stayed in room 10, a deluxe junior suite on the fourth of five floors. This room must have been just newly refinished as it was pristine (even the grouting in the bathroom was immaculate). The room consists of a primary bedroom and, separated by sliding doors, a sitting room with two couches that easily convert into double beds. There is also a nice balcony and a spacious bathroom (this room has shower only). Having caught glimpses of a few other rooms, they seem to vary somewhat in layout and decoration, but each room looked to be in tip top shape. FOOD: If I were to have a beef with the hotel, it would be with the food. Not because it wasn't well prepared and interesting - it was both - but because I just don't want to eat fancy, soft food night after night (so many reductions and gelatines and steamed vegetables) - it just felt at times like there was nothing for the teeth to grab on to. Worth noting that you could skip a dinner at the hotel and instead eat at one of the restaurants in the town, though of course that might not be desired by all members of your group - some might wish to eat at the hotel on any given night while others would wish a hearty stew! To satisfy everyone, it would be worth considering if, in addition to the two primary entree options offered each night, there might be a third more casual option (pasta bolognese, veal parmesan, small steak) with more home-style cooking than gourmet. It might also be nice to have two really excellent appetizers instead of three small ones and a salad and then soup each night. These are really minor gripes and reflect more my personal preference for hearty food over gourmet food every night, so you might find this perfect if you are looking for night after night of fancy food. The breakfasts, on the other hand, were much more to my style. In addition to the fairly traditional buffet with various breads, salami, cheeses, muesli, fruit and the like, there is a nice menu from which you can select eggs, waffles and other cooked-to-order items. It was a very nice breakfast and basically enabled us to spend the day without a
