Bell Gate House

I made a booking and then later on when I got there he said I don’t have a room he never had of trip.com now struggling to get a refund for the place i never stayed on

On the plus side this hotel is a 5 minutes walk from the centre of Leicester and has cheap parking nearby. On the down side 1) the WiFi is useless and 2) the laundry is kept along the fire escape route opposite room 15 which is a fire hazard in itself. It is also the only hotel ever where I was told off by a staff member for checking out the fire escape route.

Booked the hotel through ********** on a whim due to a change in plan and having a night out, booked it at 9pm, got an email saying no need to confirm with the hotel, ‘check in at anytime’, open 24hrs, didn’t think anything of it got to the hotel at 4am, called the number on the door, and the person who answered was incredibly annoyed I woke him up ( fair enough, it’s 4am I get it, but at the end of the day I’m just going off the information I was emailed and it’s.. a hotel?) , I proceeded to apologise multiple times and try to show him the email that said check in anytime, and he said it doesn’t say that, check in ends 12am, and wouldn’t look at the email, and insisted I was arguing with him also to add I had a friend with me who needed the toilet, he wouldn’t let them in to use the bathroom, I even offered to pay extra next morning, went to check out and got charged £10 for what I am assuming is waking him up Didn’t argue, apologised again, and left. Avoid :)

Excellent location and not too noisy even though our room overlooked the main road. Excellent WiFi connection. Very useful to have a fridge. Mark at reception was super friendly and helpful. Made us feel welcome. A very very pleasant stay. Thank you!

Frontage of building could do with smartening up a little but once inside its lovely. Very clean. Rooms are small but very neat and tidy. Bed linen seemed to be good quality. Tea and coffee supplied was a nice touch. Shower was excellent! Perfect location for town centre. Would definitely recommend for a night's stay.
