Le Château d'Argens

The setting is quite lovely: a hotel within an old medieval town castle. Could be charming, romantic and beautiful. And it is to a large extent. With not too many rooms spread out over the several buildings, a pool area and an onboard high quality restaurant everything could be set for a relaxing vacation visit. We had dinner in the excellent restaurant - see my separate review (search Le Château d'Argens Restaurant (EX Logis du Guetteur)). Some of the rooms were renovated recently to a modern standard. We, however, had a room in the "not-yet-renovated" category. It was clearly outdated and worn down, but still with charm and there was nothing wrong with the function. Beds quite comfortable. And all amenities were there, as well as an effectively working AC. The size was also generous, almost like a mini suite with separate sofa area. The bathroom was a nostalgic trip to the 70-ies with avocado green basin, tub and toilet. And the then compulsory bidet... Didn't bother us, but I can imagine some younger guests may find it strange. Up to date it is not. The small pool area very nice with some possibilities to shaded spots. "Cute" garden. Very calm and tranquil - we could really relax. Overall standard is spot on three stars, which also is the official classification. Breakfast was served on a individual basis; i.e. no breakfast buffet. You order your breakfast the day before and set a time. Good! Saves waste. Environmental friendly. And should also save/cut the cost for the guests, but no... The basic, very old school French continental breakfast (bread, jam, juice and a youghurt) is 15 EUR. If you want cheese, that's 5 EUR extra. If you want a slice of ham and salami, that's 5 EUR extra. If you want eggs (served after 9 o'clock), that's 7 EUR extra. Nowadays even French hotels have cheese, charceturies and eggs on their breakfast tables/buffets as a standard. So, if you want the same at Le Ch d'Argens you'll end up paying over 30 euros. Considering the rooms are a tad overpriced, this is not very nice or very good... Definitely a bit stingy. Staff kind and helpful. Be aware: check in is exactly at 3 pm - not a minute before. There's simply no one in the reception after lunch and prior to 3 pm. Parking easy and free on the rather spacious courtyard. Overall a nice experience (especially the restaurant), but improvements on the room standard could be welcome.

Amazing stay at this hotel, best reviews, great service. We recommend it to everyone who wants to feel the spirit of the Middle Ages, but at the same time get full comfort. The rooms are renovated, the design is stylishly selected, cleanliness is ensured. We hope to come back to you again!!!

The restaurant we had lunch at while waiting for our rooms is incredible. The breeze kept us cool. The service impeccable. The food was perfect for the time. The chef salad came with all the accrouments of the full menu without the addition. Just awesome showing up off the road and realizing we had arrived. Highly recommend.

L'hôtel était vraiment génial, le repas excellent, je me suis régalé. La piscine était vraiment géniale, la chambre top, et le petit déjeuner vraiment bon,un incontournable de la région. rien que pour ces paysage excellent.et grosse avantage l'hôtel est proche de la ville.

Je suis venu en avril en raison de mon travail et le château d'Argens a répondu à mes attentes. C'est un super lieu atypique perché au sommet des Arcs. Superbe chambre, belle vue, restaurant délicieux et personnel très à l'écoute Je recommande vivement !

Superbe séjour entre amis dans cet hôtel atypique. Des chambres magnifiques avec une vue imprenable ! Nous nous sommes régalés au restaurant avec le menu épopée gourmande ( le bœuf était succulent !) Le petit déjeuner sur la terrasse avec le soleil était au top! Nous reviendrons, c’est sûr !

J'ai eu le plaisir de pouvoir profiter de ce lieu pendant une durée de 3 jours et je tiens à dire que je ne suis pas du tout déçu de mon séjour. En effet Le Château d'Argens possède un personnel professionnel, efficace et bienveillant, les chambres sont très propres et la vue est agréable. Je recommande.

Magnifique site, très bon accueil, vue panoramique sur la vallée, petit déjeuner dans une très belle salle aux voûtes anciennes typiques de la construction d'un château avec des murs en pierre très épais

Nous y avons diné ce soir avec un couple d'amis.Pour avoir connu l'établissement avant ,le logis du guetteur, restaurant n'a plus rien de comparable!Tout est excellent!Le menu a 85 euros est parfait!Foie gras superbe!filet de boeuf au top!dessert raffinés,le fromage de brebis un régal.En prime ,excellence du service et gentillesse du personnel.Le lieu reste magique ,dans les douves du chateau!Nous recommandons sans hésiter.En digestif ,la liqueur de thym est une bénédiction!Meriterait une étoie michelin!!!!!
