Hesperia Andorra

Stayed for one night with friends. They gave me a room both out a view:(

On the Eastern end of the city centre this hotel provided a great base for a short stay in the city and I’d certainly consider again. It looks more like a modern office from the outside but the spacious lobby and bar as soon as you enter always gives a good welcome when you arrive back. There only ever seemed to be one member of staff working the reception desk, so on occasions the queues to check in built up, but otherwise arriving was seamless enough. My room was on the third floor and directly opposite the lifts, which fortunately didn’t cause any disturbance during the night as I originally feared. The room was a good size and although a little basic and dated provided a comfortable stay, along with a nice view towards the centre of the city. The bed was large with a good number of electric sockets at both sides, there was a large desk and although the mini bar was empty there were complimentary bottles of water provided. The bathroom was also a bit dated but perfectly clean and the shower head above the bath was decent. No gowns but the towels were nice enough along with the toiletries and the room gave a decent few night’s sleep. One of the reasons I booked this hotel was the roof top bar, so it was a shame this remained closed throughout my stay despite the weather being glorious. Although there’s some nice seating, reading material and the fireplace, the bar on the ground floor isn’t quite as impressive and it’s also a shame it closes promptly by 11pm, despite a member of staff still being there to staff reception. It’s a decent hotel in a good location, surrounded by good restaurant options and walkable to the main spots. With the value it offered I’d recommend and would certainly consider staying again.

The windows are useless you can hear everything from outside. During night is horrible because in front of the hotel there is a bar and you literally listen all the discussions between the customers. I called the reception but the answer was that should be finished until 3 o clock in the morning the noise and they can not do nothing. In fact the noice was there for the entire night

We expected a 4-star customer service, we received an arrogant customer service. - upon arrival, we parked at the garage of the hotel not knowing they were all occupied. Instead of a warm welcome at the front desk, the first words mentioned were: “first move the car out of the garage, then we’ll proceed with the check in process”. After checkin, they explained us where to park the car. However, with missing details. On our own, we downloaded an App from the parking lot next to the hotel and even received 40% discount. Such information I would expect from a 4-star hotel. - Sauna/Swimming pool area: the hotel has 120 rooms. They have 20 spots per day to use this area, meaning 20 rooms per day can actually use the sauna and swimming pool during a single day. During our 3-day stay, the first two days were fully booked. For the last day, some of the slots available were at 1am and 2pm. We talked to the manager to see what she could do for us, we booked the hotel because of the sauna and swimming pool area. She did not provide options and again arrogantly said that on the web page it says “upon availability”. Legally OK, on the customer service side terrible.

Excellent hotel. Kind staff. We got our room and there was a very heavy smell of cigarettes (we booked a non-smoking room). We contacted the reception and immediately our room was changed to another room. The room is spacious and clean. Excellent and varied breakfast. Good and free Wifi. Excellent location- about 5 minutes walk from Caldea spa complex and about 2 minutes walk from the shopping boulevard. Would have been nice if there was a kettle in the room with tea/coffee facilities. A pool on the top floor of the hotel is at an additional cost and must be booked in advance. We enjoyed very much, highly recommended!

As some reviewers have said, rooms are a little outdated and a bit of wear and tear can be seen but overall we found the rooms clean and the mattresses comfortable. Bed linen and towels were of good quality. The rooms had a fridge also with water which is a small but nice touch. The rooftop terrace (with a food van) is a must for a drink/food in order to take in the lovely setting in which the hotel and city sits, mountains all around. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. If bringing a car, be warned, parking is expensive! The best thing to do is drive past the hotel entrance down to the next roundabout and take the first exit and an immediate right into "Parking Escaldes Centre Telpark by Empark" (put this into Google maps), and once parked go to the office on level -1 and ask for a 3 day (or more depending on your stay) parking pass. This brings the cost to approx 18 euros a day (rather than 26+ at the hotel or some other parking lots). One thing that could be improved is the breakfast, at 12 euro each the options could be much better. As such we chose not to have breakfast at the hotel after the first morning. In general, would highly recommend Golden Tulip for a stay if using Andorra la Vella as a base
