Mari Kristin Beach Hotel

Just returned today from a very relaxing break at the Marie Kristin Beach Hotel. It was perfect for the three of us — myself, my husband, and our 15-year-old daughter. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxed and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming or friendly. in fact, every Greek person we made was incredibly friendly. We arrived late at night (around midnight) and, even though we’d missed dinner, they kindly prepared a fresh salad plate for us — such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the whole stay. The hotel is in a fantastic location, just steps from the beach. The pool is small but ideal for chilling out. No need to set an alarm to reserve sunbeds! Everyone just came and went as they pleased. There are several beaches within walking distance. You do need to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas at those, but the prices were very reasonable. We stayed on a half-board basis. The food at the hotel was fine - buffet style. The hot partner with a restaurant just down the road which was absolutely amazing — definitely worth trying. And you also get a restaurant discount for staying at the hotel The only small downside is that the rooms are quite compact. It was manageable for three of us, but a bit tight — I’d recommend no more than two people per room for maximum comfort. For all the things in your room, though. We were out and about every day either at the beach on a sailing trip, visiting Heraklion town or shopping. Overall, we had a lovely stay and I would absolutely recommend this hotel for a chilled, friendly, beachside holiday.

Small hotel with a very relaxed environment, friendly staff and in a very good location close to everything, we managed to walk everywhere, the sea the harbour the aquarium nothing was further than a 25 minute walk. we really enjoyed our stay thanks again!

Really nice hotel situated only a 30 second walk from the beach, offers nice breakfast and dinner with a bar to purchase drinks. The hotel has a nice swimming pool. The location of the hotel is also about a 15 minute walk to the main strip with bars and restaurants, however there are other bars and restaurants close by. The hotel is very clean. The only two things which could be improved is the wifi which is very slow and drinks being included with dinner (we were half board).

We Was so very excited to have booked Mari Kristin Beach Hotel For our 25th wedding anniversary 💕 "I booked the honeymoon site" Didn't receive the honeymoon suite 😕 Just got a standard room!!!! Didn't question it as we just wanted to get our relaxing hoilday to start!! Lovely hotel Not many staff but a nice quiet place... But the pool area and pool really let the whole thing down!!! So tiny!! Not enough sun loungers!! 10 loungers 10 bean bag chairs (which had seriously had there day") And 4 beds!! I know we are right next to the sea but I'm disabled and have to use a walking stick so we planned to lounge around the pool all days but it wasn't pleasant and if you was late getting down there they were all reserved with towels!! So we tried the beach!! First time I fall over and cur my leg as the beds are really crammed into each other to get as many beds as possible! Second time we tried "I fell again" So give up on the beach... We had a lovely hoilday but feel we were cheated of a lovely pool area to relax all day.. Need to add there's no pool bar either!!!! There are buttons to press for service on the umbrellas but we were pressing those damm buttons and they did not work!!!! So tryed walking down to there restaurant (who are the ones attached to said buttons) But didn't open till 12ish!! Then tryed to order a smoothe but was told it was broke so no I couldn't!! We felt we was disturbing the only women that was there to serve us!! As she was sat with another lady drinking coffee... Lovely hotel but yeah we didn't get the honeymoon suite as stated on our paperwork and what we paid for... Wouldn't go back again.. Going on the pool/pool area it really doesn't deserve a 4 star rating

We are a couple who stayed here for 9 nights recently and we had a super relaxing holiday. Having read the other reviews here we were aware of others experiences but I must say we had no problems at all. We stayed in room 301 and it was ideal. I think it is one of the best rooms in the hotel for couples. We had a great sea view, pool view and sun on the balcony for huge portions of the day. The room had a large double bed, air-conditioning, flat screen TV, a welcome bottle of wine and sweets, a couple of wine glasses and a small fridge that adequately held a couple bottles of water, a few beers and a bottle of wine. The en-suite was fine – a bit smaller than the norm but you’re only in there for a little while so it’s not a deal breaker at all, the shower did not leak out on to the floor if you closed the shower door properly but it did if the door was not closed properly. Breakfast and Dinner was included in our deal. There was combinations of the following. Breakfast catered for all – fresh fruit, fresh bread and baguettes, cold meat slices, cheese, bowels of cereal, pancakes, french toast, coffee, water, fried and boiled eggs, porridge and so on Dinner also catered for all – some of the things I can remember are lamb, chicken, turkey, gyros, wedges, fish, chips, potatoes, salads and cold dishes, pasta bolognese, soup, ice creams and various deserts. Yes you had to buy water with dinner but I had read about that already here in the other reviews so we were fine with that. It was only €1.50 for a bottle of water. The staff speak a few languages and are very friendly – they will help you any way they can. The pool area is small but again it’s mentioned here in the other reviews so we were aware. If I had to guess there’s seats around the pool for about 25-30 guests. There’s the usual carry on of booking a bed by putting your towel on it as early as you can and then disappearing for hours but sure we’re all guilty of it. If the pool is full then the beach is 1 minute away. Beds at the beach are €5 each and an umbrella to go with them is €4 , so that's €14 for a couple. Finally the hotel have a deal with Petalida, I can’t remember how much but you get a discount when you mention that you are staying in the hotel. Anyway the food is delicious, we went here 3 or 4 times for lunch. I would 100% recommend this hotel Nothing to do with the hotel but please note prices overall in Greece have gone right up than what they were a number of years ago. Some things were just as expensive as Ireland if not dearer. Taxi from hotel to Sarantari Beach was only 3km and cost €15. Chinese for 2 people with 1 glass of wine was €58 Dinner with drinks for 2 in two nearby restaurants came to €92 and €107, it would never cost us that back in Ireland. Pint of beer varied from €3.50 to €5.

Where to start????? Hotel was beautiful, rooms amazing and staff.....out of this world. Such a fantastic place for my 1st visit to Crete and it's set a standard that will be hard to beat. I did bed and breakfast and I wasn't disappointed. The breakfast buffet offered a very wide choice and I fell in love with cream cheese with honey! The rooms were really nice and I was lucky as I had plenty of coat hangers and lots of storage space. The pool area is a wee bit small but a perfect size for the hotel and there are beaches and pool bars nearby if you couldn't get a sunbed by the pool. Going back to the staff.....this is a family run hotel and they couldn't do enough to make your stay any better! Would I recommend the Mari Kristen......absolutely! I might go back for a week on my own soon!
