Parador de Limpias

Nestled in a forested plot on the edge of Limpias, this parador exudes as relaxed and comfortable charm. Guests wandered, or sat reading, chatting, or taking an ale or three. Most everything was excellent ... although the dinnertime restaurant service was disappointing. Inadequate wait-staff numbers appeared to be the problem. The food, however, was excellent ... and my departure breakfast pack (leaving too early for restaurant breakfast) was excellent. Rooms 104 and 105 are in the main building and right above the sliding front door. The door needs some noise control work, and reverberates into those rooms with every opening and closing. If you're after a suite I suggest avoiding those two unless the door gets fixed.

Wonderful place to stay in the summer; good walking, swimming, etc. Possible to do excursions in the area.

I had a fantastic stay here, this Parador was the highlight of my trip to Spain. The staff were all very friendly and professional, the room was excellent (especially the bathroom!) and breakfast was a particularly refined and enjoyable experience. I was bicycle touring around the area and I really appreciated the secure storage location they provided for my bike. The informal bar area was also very good, and I enjoyed a light meal there. The grounds around the hotel are attractive and well maintained and provide an ideal setting for the main building.

Fascinating building full of history; library (look out for the trompe l'oeil), unusual breakfast room; adjacent small vineyard.

A very pleasant hotel with lovely welcoming staff. We had a large room with sitting area and big bathroom. Bed was comfortable with nice clean bedding. Breakfast and evening meal excellent. Lots of parking to choose either in garage or directly by entrance but this needs to be reserved. A further two car parks below hotel near swimming pool. You can take a woodland walk at the back of hotel or wander into the pretty village of Limpias for a river walk. Had only booked in for one night on our way to ferry but then found it had been delayed due to stormy weather in U.K. Receptionist was very obliging allowing us to stay in same room for a second night. She also arranged for us to collect takeaway breakfast as we had to leave early. Cannot fault anything and would definitely stay again.

This hotel is conveniently situated for both Santander & Bilbao. Check out until 12 noon is useful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The food was lovely. There is a nice riverside walk not far from the hotel.
