As I walked up Steep Hill I felt a bit peckish and came across a cafe for a quick coffee and toast. Light and airy space with comfortable seating that the perfect place to relax (if I didn’t have an appointment). The coffee was good quality and I loved the sourdough toast, best bread I’ve come across in Lincoln cafes. Lots of magazines and books so you get the impression the friendly staff are happy fr customers to make themselves for comfortable.

Stayed here for 1 night with my wife. It was very impressive in so many ways. It's central, check-in and departure was very easy, room was superb, clean, quality fixtures and fittings, very comfy bed, bed linen was high quality, products left were also very good. It was extremely good value for money and we will most definitely be staying again!!!

An absolutely superb experience. The studios were very comfortable and well-appointed, and the cafe downstairs was excellent. Stephanie was a very welcoming host and nothing was too much trouble. The Rest is in a fantastic location for exploring the city, and we could not have been happier there. We will definitely return.

This isn’t really a hotel more of an air b&b above a cafe you go into a small courtyard and up some stairs the rooms are in a converted loft space each room has an outside space with a table and chairs inside the normal room they have a small kitchen area the rooms looked like they had been recently refurbished and came with the usual coffee and tea making facilities along with shower gel shampoo towels etc I would definitely go back and stay here again date of visit was October 23 only just getting round to reviewing hotels for the past year

This is a perfect location on the beautiful Steep Hill. Our room was immaculately presented, extremely clean, and very comfortable. It had a lovely big modern bathroom, great shower and there's a fab little kitchenette too. We didn't use this as we only stayed one night but I can see how it could be really useful. I'd definitely recommend this hotel, the owners are really friendly and welcoming too.

This small hotel is ideally placed for a short visit to Lincoln, a short walk from all the main attractions. It's admirably run, and could be described as airbnb in style were it not that the owners, Paul and Steph, are often to hand in the café below and are most helpful to their guests.

Situated halfway up Steep Hill the Rest is ideally situated to explore the Old Town of Lincoln. A converted chapel the rooms are very small, basic but clean and quiet at night so had 3 good nights sleep. The cafe below is handy for breakfast. Check in was hassle free and well explained in the confirmation email. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues.

Lovely place in the beautiful old part of Lincoln. Its on a steep hill, and theres external steps up to the rooms - something to be aware of if you have mobility issues. But I dont, so, I really liked the location. Close to the cathedral and castle, and lots of lndependent shops and cafes in quaint old buildings. The room I had was a decent size, with a small kitchenette squeezed in. The bathroom was clean, everything was modern and well maintained. Easy to check in and out, everything was a dream and I would definitely stay here when visiting Lincoln again.

Quick stop for lunch and what a lovely lunch we had at The Rest. I opted for one of my fave lunches cheese and tomato toasty which was really good but soon had envy when I saw hubby’s loaded cream cheese and smoked salmon bagel … ! It was actually deconstructed (I believe that’s how to describe it) - so you had very tasty cream cheese, smoked salmon, red onion, beef tomato and capers to top your bagel with as you wished - absolutely delicious - the best I’ve tasted - I usually dislike this mix when buying at a cafe etc as they are normally stodgy and way too much cream cheese. Wish I’d got a photo of it !! Highly recommend.
