The Lake Country House Hotel & Spa

Delightful visit as always, attentive staff, beautiful grounds, superb spa, comfortable spacious rooms, and the food fabulous.

This hotel Is my ‘Happy Place’ I always go here before starting back at work or during stressful times and I am always guaranteed to leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. There’s a beautiful walk alongside the river which is quiet and tranquil. The staff are always friendly and attentive. The hotel is spotlessly tidy with a range of books/magazines to read whilst sitting by the fire. This time we took our two grownup children and the array of board games went down a treat. Thank you The Lake Country House. We will back again soon, with our children in tow as they now see what’s so special about you.

Two recent visits: The night before the Royal Welsh: The farming brigade out in force. Talk of pigeons, ample tweed and tweakmented farmers wives. The second, a visit with my daughter, two weeks later In both cases we were looked after in a way that happens less these days. "Old-fashioned" service by people who care. Canapes and menu choices taken over drinks. An amuse bouche. A very good wine list - Tanners Wines are the supplier I think, and an absence of greed prevents excessive prices. The golf course needs a polish and the putting green a mow... but you go with that in mind as an "oh shall we dad?", rather than the raison d'etre. The staff excel. No better than that - it feels cultural and natural as though they are intent on creating a great experience. No diffidence. No pretentiousness. Just substance. I could decide to go again in a heartbeat. But would you roll it up, and place it in England? Shropshire or Somerset ideally where it would be easier to get to,

Just spent our anniversary weekend at the Hotel and Spa. Fabulous experience. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was great - a choice of four or five dishes per course (so, we tried most of them over the weekend) - but each was well prepared, tasty, and presented with flair. The spa was lovely and the treatments - a massage and a Total Glow-up - were relaxing and professional. An excellent few days and we’re already looking for an excuse to go again!

Had my first ever facial here at the age of 62, it was so relaxing and my skin felt wonderful afterwards. Lunch at the spa was delicious, staff very friendly and helpful. Spa was spotlessly clean. Went for a walk in the grounds and they were stunning. Loved every minute of being there and would highly recommend.

A hidden gem in Powys, just an hour from Abergavenny. Beautiful location, grounds and cultured hotel. Staff were exceptional, attentive, caring and very sociable, with nothing too much trouble. Food was superb, tasted every local ingredient- first class fine dining. Spa facilities were brilliant, staff again were so wonderful, felt at ease and welcomed. Oksana - thank you for the chat and my treatment :) parking on site, suite was cosy and sumptuous. Met the owner Pierre and Violet the lab puppy too. Will be back very soon. Thank you x
