The Z Hotel Gloucester Place

Very bad hotel. Booked a junior suite room, but it’s on the basement floor. It’s totally different with the photos you see on the app.

Easy access, but the elevator only goes to the 2nd floor and you will need to bring up the suitcase by yourself. Tiny rooms but clean. No working desk or space in the room.

First impressions were OMG what have I booked. Scaffolding all over the building, front door seen better days. Can happliy say inside did not match the externals. Welcome at reception friendly and helpful, advised I had been upgraded to room with a window and Queen bed. Room was bright and modern, bed too big for the room as no access down one side and view from basement was a builders ladder. Walls thin and poorly insulated (5552) so bad night sleep as I could hear neighbour who was not noisy by any means. Staff were great, very helpful and made me feel welcome and apologised for bad night sleep. Breakfast is continental but one of the best I have had in nice area with some unique cushioned seating. Definately recommended a stay here, albeit a good walk to China Town and theatre's (35 minutes).

I booked this room well in advance as part of a European trip for my husband and I I was very excited for it since they offer extras for club rooms and also I paid extra for the nicest room type they offer. Imagine my disappointment in checking in to be placed down in the basement. Not only was there no view, but construction workers were outside of the windows all day long. This means we had to keep our shades drawn the entire time as they could see into the room all day. I felt like I was in a cave. When I asked to switch to any other room, they said there was nothing they could do. If I wanted to settle for a windowless room I’m sure I could have booked one for far less money. To add insult to injury, they did not have sheets on the bed, just a duvet with a cover. I was disgusted to find that wherever the cover had a hole there were brown stains underneath. So what exactly was being washed on this bed? The absolutely only reason that I gave the hotel two stars is that the workers were very nice even though they couldn’t help with anything. The club perks were good. If the room had any redeeming qualities, I would’ve enjoyed my stay. I booked it months ahead and there’s really no reason why I should’ve gotten such a terrible room. Totally disappointed in my stay.
