Piccolino Hyde Park Hotel

Loved this hotel! Staff so friendly and took bags to our room (probably because we are Seniors, but so appreciated). Breakfast was great! Location could not be better!!! Little over 2 mile walk to West End. Paddington a 10 minute walk away! Will absolutely stay again!!

Average…. Not the worst, beds were okay. Room is pretty standard, but you could tell it had been run down a little. Staff were nice and I asked questions when needed. Good location, not much to say!! N

This hotel is in a perfect location for visiting London, as literally 5 minutes walk from Paddington Station. Room was very clean but very cold. The heating worked in the room, but due to the age of the property the large wooden lift up windows need replacing. They don’t fit properly with huge gaps running along the bottom. With the bed having no where to go expect very close to the window it was extremely cold and very draughty all night long. We were also awoken by someone ( can only presume another guest) hammering on the door at 3.25am!!! After hearing raised voices they eventually slammed a door shut and went to bed. Over all an ok stay but avoid staying here in the winter months.

Broken toilet x twice, no shower head on the shower, very small, tight rooms that are so hot in the summer, no air con. Dinning room much smaller then pic shows. GET THERE EARLY to get a seat. If there was a fire in the building, there is only one way out, down the stairs. The stairs are very steep with stair spindles missing, Dangerous for young children. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Location is very good and at first with the photos on the site all seemed well We were allocated a room on the sixth floor, there is no lift and the narrow badly carpeted staircase was a complete hazard…..this along with blocked open fire doors (which is criminal) on all floors, made us feel that safety was not a high priority here. The room was so narrow that it could only really be considered a single room the bed head obscured half of the window only one side of the bed accessible in the traditional manner the bathroom was so crammed that when one used the loo ones chin was in the handwash basin….nowhere in the shower to place soaps etc except the dirty floor. The plumbing was complete disaster; as far back as 1965 the UK standard was such that hot water taps be installed on the left! In fact all was shabby all the towels, sheets and curtains (the curtains were stained and torn) had seen much better days and their cleanliness doubtful. As was the rest of the room it hadn’t received a coat of paint in many years. Despite this we slept relatively well. The next day the breakfast was served in the basement the cheapest lowest quality items were on offer. We took our breakfast elsewhere for the rest of our stay. We visited London on our first day we returned in the evening and to our amazement our room had not been serviced…..on informing the receptionist we were asked why we wanted our room serviced. I had to raise my voice and insist that our room was serviced every day, just like real hotels do!

I booked a stay here for three nights and got a double bed standard room on the topmost floor… there was no lift.. nor the stairs were wide enough… they were quite narrowly and steep. Luckily I didn’t have heavy suitcase! The cost was approx 125.00 per day-Not worth it. I would only have given £50 per day for the room! I think this should not be called a hotel and must be called a really bad bed and breakfast. Negatives: There are a host of issues.. the furniture Was bad and falling apart. The light was getting dim automatically. The bathrooms are terrible. There was no hot water when I wanted to shower in the evening, (was fine in the morning).The toilet is so cramped your knees hit the sink. No toilet brush. Hot Breakfast had become cold as they had a food warmer that wasn’t on! No waiter. I didn’t have good Wi-Fi. Kept disconnecting and was too slow. No soundproofing and could hear the sounds from next room. Maybe I had the worst room of the hotel! Good things: room was made up every day. it’s near Paddington station.The staff were friendly and helped me find my directions. I booked this as this had good ratings on booking. Com. Will never come here again and prefer to stay away from central London next time and take the tube! The information and pictures on the website are misleading and not what I got.
