The Black Lion, Long Melford

A lovely hotel/restaurant/bar, very friendly staff in a really nice place to eat/drink. We had the Sunday roast which was beautiful, we also had a a breakfast which was lovely, both meals served nice and freshly cooked, open to non residents, it’s a short stroll from the centre of Long Melford but very well worth a visit.

Staff are very friendly and the room was large & comfortable [although pity they only provide 1 coat hangar]. The bathroom is great with a nice large shower. The bed was comfy but the mattress sounds on its way out with creaking springs. Dinner was excellent & very well presented. The only downside was the Australian wine which was £28 but had that harsh taste of really cheap plonk. Breakfast was also very good. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here & plan to return some time in the future.

What a lovely time away my husband and I had at The Black Lion. The staff were so welcoming from the moment we walked in. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated with a view over the green. (Our room was on the top floor with two flights of stairs to climb so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues). We enjoyed drinks in the lounge area and had a delicious meal taking advantage of the two courses price. My fishcake was so tasty and my husband enjoyed his dressed houmous. We both enjoyed the roast beef and pork. We had a good nights sleep and a great breakfast the following morning. We could not fault The Black Lion at all and will visit again along with trying other Chestnut Inns.

Yet Another fantastic evening out! Great food and service I cannot praise this place enough special mention to Joe O for looking after us! And Jacob and Calum for cooking for us We had the fish cake and then trout both dishes we highly recommend!

stayed here for one night we was attending a wedding in the area , my daughter stayed the night before with the bride as she was maid of honour the service we received was second to none they were looked after so well also they let us into our rooms early so we didn't have to drive in our wedding outfits , the rooms were amazing , lovely views over the green , breakfast was lovely in the gorgeous restaurant beautiful building but it all is made extra special by the excellent staff definitely stay again

We had a really enjoyable stay. The pub/ hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming. As well as staying in accommodation we also booked an evening meal in the pub restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the service great. We also enjoyed the 3 glasses of wine for £10 offer that gave us the chance to try some different options . Our room was clean and had a great size en-suite with both bath and shower. The breakfast ( included in room price) was delicious and generously sized. We would definitely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to return if in the area again Thank you to all the staff for making us so welcome.
