The Farmers Boy Inn Guest House

A classic British country pub, lots of character, very clean, friendly staff, plenty of choice for food and drinks, the beer garden is a good size e with a good play area for the kids.. I don't like mash so I asked if I could swap for chips, the answer was yes, but it'll cost you another £3.50 but you can keep the mash too! I had neither, never been to a place that don't accommodate swaps like that or doesn't give that choice of sides anyway.. the food did take a while to come, they did forget a few items which we had to prompt them on, we were checked on which is always nice but none of our party were overly impressed with the food, I had the game pie and to be honest, it just tasted like a good quality beef and onion pie with a bit of red wine thrown in, was ok but next time we'll stop somewhere else.

Rang in advance to check they would be serving food at 5pm and was told yes. Drove there and find out the chef doesn't arrive until 6pm! Not happy . .

Booked a 2 night stay and it was great from start to finish. Staff were lovely and so helpful. Rooms were lovely and clean and comfortable. The food was outstanding, and reasonably priced. The pub itself was cosy and had a very relaxed feel. Will definitely be returning in the near future

Really friendly and helpful staff. Lovely atmosphere and food - pies were lovely and tasty and all food was completely home cooked and very good quality. Bed linen and towels were pristine white and bed was very comfortable and a good king size. We had a peaceful night sleep and thought it was very reasonably priced. Thank you to all the staff

I'd say, a little expensive, but it wasn't empty and the food didn't disappoint. We arrived without a booking, but they were quite happy to fit us in. They have us fair warning that the kitchen would be closing soon. Fundamentally, apart from the fact that I don't think I'll be by this way again soon, I can't think of anything to complain about.

Absolutely fantastic! I was a little worried because the price was so reasonable, but the rooms were lovely: bed was comfortable, plenty of towels and hot water, and gleamingly clean. The staff are delightful - can't do enough for you, helpful and kind without being intrusive. The pub was lively on a Monday evening, with several booked for dinner -but service was quick and the food was fresh and delicious. The menu is local, and meals are made in the pub kitchen - and it was fabulous. I'm hoping to return for a holiday in the area in future - this will be my first choice. Thanks so much to all excellent team.
