First of all, I will start with the positives. The location of Commodore is excellent, and a very convenient base for Los Cristianos. The reception staff are also very friendly and helpful. Also, the pool area and outdoor space is very well maintained. The problem is the rooms that are owned by the main office. These are typically dated and run down. I booked one of these rooms directly with the company, and paid around 115 euros per night, so by no means a cheap stay. The room I was allocated was 201T. This was on the second floor and tucked away in the corner, with the balcony facing into another apartment. No real view at all, which is the main selling point for commodoro. That was disappointing, but the luck of the draw. What was the worst thing was the apartment had cockroaches in the bathroom and in the main living area. I know Tenerife is a warm climate and cockroaches are present, but this seemed like a bigger problem. What seemed like the WiFi router was actually a large industrial size pest repellent wired into the lounge area. It didn't work though, as during the night over several nights I saw cockroaches roaming about. It was really odd putting and I didn't sleep well as a result. I also brought absolutely no food into the apartment in an attempt to keep them away. Not ideal if your plan was to cook meals and snacks, but I just couldn't risk encouraging them The apartment itself was clean, but everything is just old. The bathroom in particular needs a full refurbishment. The toilet wouldn't flush and when fixed by maintenance, it started running constantly. Chipped tiles and a cracked mirror and just generally old and worn. These apartments are tired and are in need of refurbishment, and it really is scandalous to be charging such high prices for such poor quality.
