Pub restaurant Very disappointed with the food, Lamb curry was tasteless and greasy and looked like cat food, naan bread was soggy. Liver and bacon looked promising but sadly was burnt which spoilt the taste. We have eaten here before but would not recommend the pub for food.

Food quite nice, cutlery on the other hand, lol left alot go be desired, cups in room had tea stained rings in them for the whole weekend, tried cleaning , but to no avail. Staff quite pleasant,tea and coffee etc in room, very sparse, lots of things in rooms not working,ie shower, TV , curtains were hard to open and close very noisy below bedrooms, would we stay here again..... Probably not

We were looking to stay somewhere near Southampton for the night and we found this place. We didn't even know about the Conan Doyle connection, so a visit to the beautiful church was a bonus. Food was available all day, the room was spacious and clean. Would 100% stay here again in a heart beat.

Lovely picturesque pub with 5 upstairs rooms, ours overlooked the rear garden which was lovely. Room was a good size, well maintained and very clean. Bed was comfy too. Location is excellent for exploring the New Forest. The cooked breakfast was excellent and plentiful and the two vegetarian options my wife had were very tasty too, we also had the Sunday roast which was decent and a good size. It's not that cheap for food and drink but I think this is the norm in the New Forest Staff were very friendly and helpful and a special mention to Sienna who was great. Would stay here again.

I was disappointed to find that there was absolutely no effort made to make this pub accessible to someone with a disability and in fact it would have been better if they had a large sign saying 'no disabled people allowed'. My friend, who uses a rollator, just about managed to get up the steps into the pub when a simple sign, and a bit of reorganising of the heavy tables outside would have meant that she could have got to the back door easily enough (we negotiated this obstacle course on the way out). However, inside the pub there was no way at all that she could have even got down to the toilets (seven steps) and into the washroom or the cubicle. It really wouldn't take much to add a disabled toilet just outside the back door even if the building is listed. The food, was lovely and the staff were very pleasant.

Went for lunch especially to experience their delicious Ploughman's! Unfortunately no longer on Menu.? Decided to stay and chose a Panini each which was quite tasty! A lovely pleasant girl called Faith served us (an asset to your establishment) . Bring back Ploughman's please !

We had lunch here after a long drive and it was such a a relaxing place. The pub is quirky with historic interest and friendly staff. We felt welcomed and it had a range of lovely ales and choices for vegans. It has a large beer gared and well-planted borders. Plenty of space for groups outside and decent value too.

Came back for an Easter lunch. Staff were again very friendly and welcoming . This time we got to enjoy the garden. Our waitress a young girl was very helpful and although very busy there she was able to recommend the daily special's. Delicious Pork and Mash followed but a tasty Easter Cheesecake. Waitress coped very well even though she seemed to be under a lot of pressure from I can only guess her female manager . Maybe some more support and acknowledgment from management would make these young teams members feel appreciated. We will be back as the food always makes us want to return. Three of us booked lunch here. Sadly they couldn’t find my booking, but we were welcomed and given a nice table in the window. I chose the starter of Nachos as a main course - it was nice but a huge portion. You couldn’t have eaten a main afterwards! My partner had a Bacon and Brie Baguette with chips and salad and my brother enjoyed their Beef Suet Pudding with chips. All the portions were large. Service was friendly and efficient. My brother, who’s from Lancashire, was intrigued to see the pigs wandering around outside. We’ll be back ...
