Actually I did not finally go to the Hotel Down Town. But I feel obliged to share my very upsetting booking experience with them: they did not reimburse me despite I canceled within 24 hours and my reservation was for almost a month later. This is my very disappointing experience: On September 22nd, I tried more than once to book a room at the Down Town Hotel online. However, their Smartbooking website, rejected my credit card again and again. Given that I was unsuccessful, I then proceeded to book somewhere else. When I woke up, I found an email from he Down Town informing me that my reservation had been accepted. Unfortunately by then I had already booked an alternative. The reservation that first was rejected was somehow later accepted and to my dismay, was ‘not refundable’. I called the hotel and spoke with a very nice receptionist, perfectly fluent in English, who tried to have me speak with the reservation / accounting person, but the person did not take the call and asked that I send an email. I did send my email in English with French translation. I have not heard back… I have wound up losing 114 euros
