Riba's Underground Camping

Lovely and clean campsite with lots of character. Friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the local area. The mine tour was very informative, though a bit long if taking kids to it. The chilling area is a nice space and you can catch some WiFi there

After much drama with our camper and the inability to retrieve it from the clutches of the desert, along with friends we stayed at Riba’s. Fabulous outback mining park with a variety of sites. I made use of the underground rooms. The Manager and his wife were extremely obliging and assisted us to no end. Great rustic spot to stop at. Hopefully will get back there sometime. We stayed in the underground camping which was (predictably) uncomfortable 😂 sharp gravel base which poked through sleeping mats, gloomy and noisy underfoot. However, I’m writing this to very highly recommend the evening mine tour. Jason was an excellent speaker, funny and knowledgeable. I went with my three teenage boys who are VERY hard to impress - but Jason you aced it. They are still talking about it a few days later. Don’t stay there without doing the tour - it’s 5*, highly recommend it

What a fantastic caravan park. The powered sites are drive through and covered with shade cloth. Jason, the owner/manager is so friendly and helpful. The amenities are excellent as is the camp kitchen. There are a lot of underground facilities too, including guest rooms and campsites.

OMG….What an absolutely unique experience and only 24hrs into it I’m already going to extend my stay from 3nights to 7 nights. I’ve just been on one of Riba’s tag along tours which was absolutely fantastic. So much information and learning to be achieved and Jason is a great guide which is honest, friendly and knows what he is talking about. I have currently booked a drive through powered site which is a fantastic idea. There are many other options and l will be sure to dive into the underground area and throw my swag out for at least a night to get the real experience.

Coober Pedy really is like no other place on earth. Ribas was no different. An old disused mine, it was fantastic to experience. Walking into the underground reception really gave you the real feel of Coober Pedy. The owner was stressed to the max with constant phone calls with people wanting last minute bookings. People think they can get a booking with 1 days notice in peak season. Who are they kidding. The underground tv room was a great experience, the showers (I wouldn’t bother having one) but was a great memory to take home & the sunset from the top of the hill are all highlights from Ribas. I’d definitely recommend staying here for the quiet, outback, real Coober Pedy experience.
