Altira Macau

I originally booked this hotel because of the Forbes endorsement as I’ve always had amazing experiences in the past with other properties. But unfortunately, the Altira did not live up to my expectations in many respects. First, the location really was not convenient, having to take an uber to basically any attraction in Macau was a waste of time. Staying on the peninsula or Cotai strip would save so much time and hassle. Secondly, the room I booked on Ctrip stated free mini bar. But upon check-in, reception told me that only the bottled water and the tea and coffee are free of charge. Everything else in the minibar is chargeable. That was a bit misleading. Also breakfast was not included in the room price, and it’s around 250 per person to have a set menu delivered to the room. This adds significantly to the already high room rates. Some other hotels have breakfast included, which is better value and convenience. Service touch points in general was great but some of them bordered on cold or being ignored. Compared to other others Altira was just not that warm and friendly. The room and public areas are exceptionally clean but for some reason the hotel rooms have fake Dyson hair driers that takes forever to dry the hair. It was a weird choice on the part of the hotel. The slippers were cheap and flimsy. The toilet is not smart toilet and does not have a bidet. The spa/sauna/swimming pool were very clean and well maintained, but the facilities definitely show its age and feel outdated compared to other five star hotels. I’m not sure how they made the Forbes list for the past 17 years consecutively. Overall, the stay was okay but not that enjoyable compared to other similarly priced hotels in Macau, of which there is a plethora to choose from.

The hotel is great, the view is awesome—facing the sea—and the room is big and clean. Special thanks to Yuki, the gym worker, who helped my girlfriend find the AirPod that we forgot to take after the gym. He even helped us open the machine to get it since it had dropped inside. I really appreciate it, and he was so nice to do all of that. The receptionist, Steven, was also nice; he helped me follow up on the case of the missing AirPod and finally brought it to my room. The service is awesome. I’m looking forward to coming again.

I think they have the best room view for the city. I loved that view. Breakfast was supereb and delicuous. Service top of the top. Swimming pool and spa area great. To sum up that was the best hotel that I have ever stayed in my life.

An absolutely beautiful place to stay, the staff were amazing and so helpful. The room was fantastic it just was a great stay highly recommended.

The hotel is luxary and in a very convenient place, with lots of nice restaurants and desert nearby!

Truly enjoyed this stay. They have amazing huge bathtub in all rooms. Will definitely be back.

Amazing experience, room was huge and comfy. Staff were very friendly, place is walkable to many local eateries etc, free shuttle bus to studio city should you wish to head over to the touristy casino place, my parents enjoyed the stay alot. Thank you for making their 38 yrs anniversary memorable with the decorations etc. My young niece and nephew of 3s and 4s enjoyed the huge bathtub as well. Very nice view from the hotel room as well. We will definitely consider staying here again when we are back in Macau

Cleanness was still good although the hotel has a sign of wear and tear. The swimming pool and gym were nicely equipped, the jacuzzi and sauna also well maintained. Spotted a guest smoking on the G/F lift lobby while waiting and inside the lift, the staff attended to it immediately when I informed him. I think the hotel should work harder on the smoke free policy.
