Hostal Aguilar

For a 2-star establishment, this was fine. Very clean and quiet. Looks nice. The location is good. I give it 3.5 stars because I don’t think it exceeds expectations. (I wish more reviewers would save their 4 and 5 stars for exceptional hotels. I mean clean and not run-down should be the minimal to expect, right?) The room we had was right off the lobby so didn’t have much privacy; people in the lobby could see in whenever we opened the door. It was not as big as it appeared on *********** or the hotel website. And, even though the website advertised two doubles, it only had two single beds. The bathroom is an okay size but the sink is super tiny. You have to put a towel on the floor next to the shower to soak up the water from the shower. The shower water pressure was great though. No fridge or coffee in the room. We never did figure out how the coffee vending machine in the lobby worked so went to nearby bakeries to grab some. The management was a bit gruff but that seems to be the norm in Madrid.

This hostal has the perfect accommodation, along with the best possible location. The rooms are very clean and functional, with all the necessary amenities; the staff is very friendly (I even had to stay one day in lobby working and they were so caring!) We will come back, when visiting Madrid, for sure!

Magnífica opción. Muy limpio. No tiene nada que envidiar a establecimientos de mayor categoría. Instalaciones reformadas. Recepción 24hrs. Ubicación inmejorable. Personal muy amable y competente. Altamente recomendable. Repetiré.
