Stone Hill

Caroline and Mark are wonderful, attentive hosts. The wooden cottages have everything you need and the extra services and food/wood/brunch options make it the most relaxing getaway, close-but-far-enough away from Jo'burg to feel like a refreshing break. The walking trails are the best as you feel safe to be in nature and enjoy the fresh air and sounds that come with it. The river walk (to a cute stream) is a must :) We struggled a bit with not having enough hot water to enjoy a bath/shower in the Acacia Tree Cottage. The brunch was delicious! It was an experience as we chatted to other guests, Mark and Caroline while we enjoyed the delicious options on offer. Just lovely. We hope to be back soon.

I can honestly say that Stone Hill far exceeded our expectations! Caroline and the rest of the team could not do enough to make our stay perfect. We (adults, kids and pups) all loved it! Not sure that anything I write can do justice to this gem. I took my 2 dogs away for a much needed weekend break and I was blown away by the friendliness of the hosts, the facilities (attention to details is remarkable!) and the sheer splendour and peace of the place. From the minute I arrived until I left I was made to feel so welcome. Dogs are not only allowed, they are very welcome there and their needs are taken care of as much as the humans needs. :-) The 5km circular walk (dogs go off leash) was such a pleasure. The walk is safe, well maintained and there are more than enough benches along the way to enjoy the scenery or catch your breath. The riverine is a little doggy heaven. It's a lovely spot to take a book or a picnic and let the dogs have some fun. It is absolutely beautiful, so clean and a true tonic for the soul. The cottage I stayed in had everything I could want and everything was good quality and well appointed. Such a lovely gesture upon my arrival to find some sherry :-), bottled water, milk in the fridge and a welcome note to me and my fur babies. Those little caring touches are evident throughout Stone Hill. The cottage had its own splash pool, outdoor shower and beautiful, fully enclosed garden. I ordered a bread as an accompaniment for my braai on my first night and it was absolutely delicious. I also made use of the breakfast option which was really good. Mark and Caroline are such gracious hosts and I'm so happy that I was able to share a little piece of their paradise. I'll be back!!

It has been a very long time since we have travelled somewhere with such attention to detail. The kitchen is fully fitted, even with a coffee pod machine and an airfryer. The rooms are incredible with massive and comfortable beds. The bathrooms come with a few toiletries to make your life easier. The setting is quiet and perfect to relax, with a safe and comfortable 5km round walk for the doggos. Highly recommend. Caroline and Mark are wonderful hosts- will be back for our 3rd trip soon!

Under an hour from Randburg, is this magic unspoilt & pet friendly oasis off the beaten track with all facilities for a short or long getaway from the city. Great walks and views etc - a must if you need a quiet break from the maddening crowd.

We as a family do think that a daily cleaning service should be included..not over and above the accommodation fee. It had been our 3rd time back to visit Stone Hill so we do enjoy the lodge
