Hotel Papi

Our first day and already an awful experience... I already want to leave. The hotel is not as it is advertised. It is tiny with nothing to do. You can walk the whole place in 2 minutes flat. Food is basic, no variety and lacks options. The room is so so small it's hard to believe. We couldn't even find a place to put our cases. We can't pass each other in the room without pushing each other over. The wardrobe can barely cope for one person, never mind that's it's supposed to cater to a family of 3. The bathroom hasn't even got a place to hang a towel. So drying towels cannot happen. The shower tray is constantly just overflowing and leaking on to the floor outside. The room is filthy on arrival, floors full of sand & dirt and old sweet wrappers left behind the sink. The socket inlets are so dirty that they look to have green mould inside. It has a very old air conditioning unit that is pumping dust and is yellow and about to fall off the wall. No hairdryer, no safe, no beach towel, no iron. Unless, you pay to rent or deposit. We can can hear every person pass by the room and hear everything they do in their rooms. The lights barely came on at first. Everything is bad, everything!!! Please save yourself, as we wish we did sooner. Not to mention, there is nothing to do in this area. Nothing!

For us the hotel facilities are great, the pools are large and clean with lifeguards and plenty of areas to enjoy the sun, the hotel has a central location for excursions, the food is freshly cooked each day, plentiful and caters for all diets and tastes, the staff are universally helpful and the management go out of their way to resolve any problems. The daily entertainment program is vast and the animation team are brilliant. This is also a great hotel for a family with disability challenges. Thank you for making us feel like part of the Papi family.

Stayed at Hotel Papi in May. Beautiful hotel, amazing staff other guests? Uuuugh! Manners non existent, arrogant, queue jumping (not the hotel or staffs fault). Beautiful pool, lovely staff. Really hard working, long hours, but always smiling. Clean, updated, attention to detail. I would say this is a hotel for older guests or those without children. There is a splash pool and around the side there is a children’s pool (I believe) but when I went I think I was the youngest there and I was 33! Nice relaxing holiday, WiFi is great, pool and terrace is lovely. Plenty of chairs and loungers including rattan furniture outside. Beautiful! Out of 5? Hotel - 4.5/5 Staff - 5/5 Food - 4/5 Cleanliness - 5/5 Stay here again? Relaxing holiday yes! Family holiday with children - unsure

Not what I was expecting and bitterly disappointed in all honesty. Contacted hotel prior to arrival asking if we could hire a fridge. Assured this would happen. Arrived, no fridge until the next day. No excuse for that really. Contacted hotel prior to arrival asking for a late check out. We're told to ask on arrival. Asked on arrival, told to ask mid stay. Asked mid stay and were told to ask night before departure. Asked night before departure and guess what. No you can't have a late check out. Again poor. Air conditioning worked well then stopped. We reported this and were told that someone would look at it. Went back and were told that the whole system was turned up. Then went back and were told it was the law and to sleep with no sheets. Again this is poor customer service. As for hotel, it was OK. Breakfast was OK. Very busy thou and all squashed in together. Food average at best. Pool. Freezing cold. No law about that one though. There is a night club next door. Only open on Saturdays but music bangs out until 5am Location? Probably the best thing about the hotel. Close to beach, shops, bars and restaurants as well as old town and train station. My recommendations would be not to book but each to their own. Certainly don't speak to the manager. He was rude. He will no doubt come back and counter what I said. But I have given facts and my opinion. Do what you want with it

Ok for a 1 night stay. The rooms are small and outdated. They offer little to no comp toiletries. The beds are small and uncomfortable. Our door was not accepting any cards to open with so we had to be escorted upstairs every time with an employee, don’t see why they couldn’t put us in a different room. The downstairs bar area was lovely. On the 1 night we were there, they had entertainment with Portuguese dancers and everyone joined in. The breakfast is cheap. Low quality servings but it matched the rest of the hotel.

The hotel was clean and nice, the rooms needed to be updated, but it wasn't too bad. We arrived after midnight. The man who checked us in was amazing he gave the kids some water and snacks as everything was shut. The location of the hotel is good. The beach is litterally at the end of the road (across the road) Loads of food shops/souvenir shops There is a pharmacy 7 mins down the road there is also loads of desert shops and cafes. Mcds is about a half an hour walk, maybe longer. Train station is not far loads of buses around. Swimming pool.area was lovely Weather was lovely. I would come again but without the kids as they didn't like the area!
