Universal Hotel Perla

Great location, fronts onto beach. Cannot praise the staff highly enough, they all go that extra mile to ensure that you have a great holiday. Room was a nice size, great balcony with view of the sea. Very clean and welcoming. Roof top bar is well worth a visit. Pool area is kept clean and tidy, with small bar serving drinks. We stayed half board, breakfast was good, but can be a limited choice for the evening meal though and quite repetitive- although you won't starve! Evening entertainment in the roof top bar and main lounge downstairs. This was our second stay this year, and we have had a fantastic time on both occasions. Would recommend this hotel, and I am sure we will go back there next year.

The pillows are the fluffiest I ever felt. The Hotel was spotless and run very smoothly. We rent a bike and all our doubts were attended to promptly. There is a clean pool and beach up front is also high quality. Food was very good with ample choice.

We paid for the upgrade front sea view room. We seen another room and we were pleased we paid for the larger room. Hotel is modern and rooms cosy. Air con worked when door was shut for balcony. Food - as some prev reviews not always labelled, not a wide choice for veggies but i get used to that. They had fresh cooked steak on one of the nights. We paid for all inclusive and drinks were premium drinks with some extras that could be paid for (cocktails). The sky bar is fantastic its a shame its not open till 5pm as it is a nice chill out space.

Positives: On the beach, S'illot is a cute little bay, Sa coma is better so most days we walked to Sa Coma beach. Red Shop cafe close by is amazing for coffees, lunch, snacks, pastries and pies etc... feels a bit more Spanish. Swimming pool was clean and well maintained, kids enjoyed the pool area. Staff were mostly very friendly and helpful. Especially the front desk and the girl at the pool bar always had a smile. Sky bar had a nice atmosphere. Negatives: 3 star not 4, half board food was 80% cheap, frozen, all tasted the same. The only nice food was the cured ham, the fresh melon, pineapple and watermelon. Over 2 weeks they did have a nice gammon 1 night, nice ribs 1 night, roast duck etc..... i think they are trying but obviously have no budget to deliver. Everything is over salted unfortunately. The restaurant is noisy, feels like a canteen, everyone on ipads, jammed in the basement. Beeping air fresheners. The biggest problem was in week one the fish was off one night. 2nd week my son was given raw chicken and raw pork off the grill, then we had off fish again that was so bad it made my mouth sting and itch and tasted so disgusting. This night my daughter had diarrhea roughly 1 hr after she finished dinner until 1 am. Alot of the food is cold. Yoghurt is sour at breakfast. Cheap white bread. Dessert buffet is a joke worst I have ever had. People just piling the plates Like they don't care what they are eating. Some nights at 7.15 they had already ran out of some dishes. I could go on with things like cocktails are awful and pre mixed all inclusive rubbish..... glasses dirty, the own water they have in bottles has things floating in it so we ordered sealed water. I ordered 4 taxis over 2 weeks through hotel. 1 didn't show up, 1 was 20 mins late, 1 was too small what we had specifically asked them to check it was big enough for luggage. Go elsewhere or book room only. Room was fine but on the small side. I will never book half board again.

This hotel is in a wonderful position next to a wonderful beach,it has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Every member of staff are so friendly and helpful a credit to this 4* hotel. We had a 2 week stay all inclusive with Saga Holidays the 2 reps Tony and Mary were excellent. We feel improvments need to be made with the food not up to 4* standard and the entertainment not very good. Breakfast was OK, lunch and dinner mostly pork and fish most of the time not a usual good standard. We spoke to guests who stayed at this hotel in 2023 the said the food is not as good. Why cant some bottled drinks be left in our fridge soft drinks a few beers etc as we were on all inclusive. The draught beer after pouring my glass swiftly went flat, but i must say the cocktails and coffees were OK. When talking to other guests we were mostly in agreement a few improvments need to happen before we revisit this hotel.

The hotel had only just re-opened after the winter break and we expected a few ''teething' problems. But there weren't. The reception staff were very friendly and efficient and we very quickly got sorted, paid the tourist tax and were on on our way to our rooms. These were clean and bright with a view over the beach. The cleaning services during our stay were very good. We had full board and the food each day was varied well cooked and presented. No difficulty in choosing something different at each meal. And whether you went in early or late the same choices seemed to be available. So no shortages! The buffet style meal is a delight really, especially when the food is as well cooked as it was here. The bar staff often doubled up in the dining room so you got to know a lot of the staff quickly and they got to know you. There was entertainment each evening which was both varied and of a good standard. The hotel is in a good location near the beach with a few bars nearby. No hotel car park but we were able to park on the street nearby without difficulty. The one, minor, complaint was the lift service. Their capacity and programming meant that you sometimes had a long wait to get down from the upper floors. However, overall a very good hotel, comfortable and with very good staff and catering facilities. Highly recommended.
