Super 8 by Wyndham Manistee

It is one of the better hotels we've stayed at this summer. We will definitely stay here again on one of our next road trips.

Cockroaches! The front desk was awesome and the other guests were terrific. BUT I would not stay here again because cockroaches were all over the carpet in our room. Unfortunately we didn't see this until the morning of check out. There were at least 6 crawling over the rug.

Not a bad place to stay for 1 night. Room was clean. Bathroom is very small. The door almost hits the toilet. Sink area is also small. Overall though not a bad for we were tired and just passing through. Room and beds seemed updated though. Would stay again if passing by.

Great place to stay for our team basketball camp. Lots of areas to gather and hang out inside or outside. Was very clean and staff was friendly. Beds nice and AC and heat worked great! Close to everything and easy drive to beach and downtown

What might it smell like if Shrek opened a dive bar, you ask? Inhale the answer at the Super 8 Manistee, where every room is infused with a pungent, proprietary odor of swampy cigarette. The hard, gritty floors offer a fossil record of the carpet that once covered this hotel, but any softness has long since worn away and shoes are recommended at all times. The saying "nature always finds a way" has rarely been more true than in the grotto-like bathrooms, where guests willing to brave the stagnant air can observe a variety of lichens and slime molds thriving in extreme conditions. Each room comes equipped with a gunky, warm water faucet, a slippery television remote and a brown arm chair that doubles as a convenient cigarette extinguisher and soup absorber.

The motel is in a great location for any business on the north side. Pleasant location with plenty of attractions near. Just a few minutes from downtown and riverside locations. Price point a great value for the area.

After camping in the Manistee National Forest for a few nights, we were excited for a hot shower and a comfy bed. Those items (and a helpful staff) ended up being the only things this motel did well. Room was dirty, run-down and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Every touchpoint was visibly grimy, from the door handles to the lamp toggles to the AC controls. The rusty old faucet was especially icky, we half-jokingly ran the water through our backcountry purification kit before drinking. Window wouldn't close fully due to a broken latch, carpet was threadbare and stained, toilet tank full of black mold (I only checked because I could smell it). Properties like this are the reason people don't trust Super 8.

Room was very clean but the smell of smoke was strong near the outside door. Several guests smoked in that area as well as the help, including the person running the desk. I saw several people waiting at the front desk in the morning to check out while the person who was working that job, was sitting outside the door smoking. The breakfast was more than adequate. There was even complementary hand sanitizer for anyone who wanted it.

It was pretty clean despite looking outdated and the lobby looking a little run down. My room seemed clean, the bed wasn't the most comfortable and they had these pillows that were half size and super annoying. I would give it a three but I think for a Super 8 you shouldn't expect much. The other places in the area looked way worse and for more money.
