I spend 25-30 nights a year in hotels, and have stayed here probably 5-6 times on trips to Colorado Springs over the past 4-5 years, going back to when it was an Econo Lodge (before it became a Quality Inn). Since it's a short drive (essentially adjacent) to Colorado Springs, I'd rather stay in the smaller, much quieter, and virtually crime-free Manitou Springs. This is an older motel, but unless you're really picky or a high needs crybaby, you'll be fine. The owners/management are clearly trying to keep a very old motel in decent shape. It's by no means perfect, but not anywhere near bad or worthy of a negative review. The rooms are clean and modern enough considering the motel's age. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is simple and up to par to middle of the road Choice brand motels. The area is safe, especially compared to virtually anything along I-25 in Colorado Springs. I'm quite tuned in to safety, especially in the parking lot, as I keep tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools in my work truck. The fact that I can park right outside my room and easily watch my truck and walk to it within seconds is huge for me. What else do you want for a simple night's stay? If you want to spend $250+ a night for a fancy room, stay in Colorado Springs and find something along the busy and loud I-25 corridor if that floats your boat. I don't believe there's an elevator, but that doesn't matter to me, as I always ask for a first floor room. Keep this in mind though if it's an issue for you. This has become and will continue to be my go-to motel when I travel to Colorado Springs. After several stays I'm quite at peace with this place. Yes, of course....there's always room for improvement or little things you can nitpick about a very old motel, but the most important things to me have always been covered.
