Hotel Berne

Traditional mountain hotel with very well maintained rooms and new bathrooms. Great view to Manteigas if you stay in a village facing bedroom. Welcoming staff; little family hotel with a restaurant you must try. The breakfast with a view was a great way to start the day.

My wife and I spent seven days at Hotel Berne in Manteigas, Portugal. We felt welcomed since our arrival. Rafael and the staff went the extra mile to make us feel at home. The food was fantastic, and the village was simply beautiful and cozy. We tasted the local restaurants and coffee shops. It is worth the trip. The rooms were clean; the hotel was well-maintained and quiet. I recommend Hotel Berne for your next trip to Portugal.

We stayed two nights in Manteigas at the Hotel Berne while we hiked in the Serra da Estrela. The hotel was cute, the restaurant was delicious, and the room was very nice. The staff made us feel very welcome and were so helpful. Great views from patio outside of oh room!

We stayed at the Berne hotel for 3 nights during our motorcycle tour of Spain and Portugal. This friendly family run hotel was a great place to stay to explore the surrounding countryside with walking tracks easily accessible. The hotel has a very good restaurant serving excellent food and the rooms are very comfortable.

I travelled to Spain and Portugal by motorcycle with 6 friends - 4 bikes altogether. There is quite a steep road to get to the hotel but on arrival there is level, private parking right in front of the hotel. Each of the couples on the trip was responsible for finding accommodation during our tour and this was my choice so I was hoping it would be nice. I couldn't have been happier! It is set a short distance from the town which it overlooks with stunning mountain views. It is family run and very friendly. The booking procedure was easy and all the rooms had balconies from which to enjoy the views and were great value for money. It is a fantastic location for walking and hiking the beautiful countryside with walks from the hotel door which the owners are only too happy to help you set off on the right track or trial. There is a lovely restaurant and normally when staying in a hotel I like to eat elsewhere to get a feel for the location but the food was so good my friends and I ate there twice. In fact locals were coming from the village to eat in the restaurant, On one of our days it was very wet so we decided to visit the Burel Factory nearby - a traditional very high quality wool product. One of the owners booked the trip for us and when it was time to leave gave us a lift in his car making two trips because it was raining so heavily! We were made incredibly welcome and you really get the feel of a small, family run hotel where nothing is too much trouble.

We loved Hotel Berne. It has a fantastic location with opportunities for some great walking. The rooms and comfortable and very clean. The restaurant is good and the pool is lovely for relaxing after hiking. The staff are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and funny. What more could you want?
